01.01.2022 I think we can all agree that 2020 now sits in the same category as Voldemort & will be the year that must not be named. Aside from 2 surprise Taylor Swift albums, there wasn’t much to get excited about. Nobody expected that on March 22, we’d have to stop classes & lockdown for pretty much the rest of the year. We shifted to home training, with a few lucky enough to secure one of our Wattbikes, entering the virtual world of riding, training and racing, as well as online Spin... Zoom classes. Whilst this wasn’t ideal for us, we realise that we were one of the lucky businesses that were able to pivot (most used word of 2020) to an online platform & continue on as much as possible, instead of closing down then & there in March. In July, our Spin Room fam took another hit when we lost one of the best. Paul Mac left us far too soon. If you knew Paul, you’d have known him to be one of the kindest, most genuine treasures to have ever walked through our doors. The SR community was like family to Paul & we know that he’ll forever be wearing The Spin Room jersey, sweating in peace. We’ll be in touch ASAP with details of a ride out where we can all celebrate Paul Mac together stay tuned. After much deliberation, we’ve decided that The Spin Room won’t be returning to a physical space in 2021. This isn’t the end though. The Spin Room is a cycling community, not just a place to train & preserving this community is what we will put our sweat & tears into going forward (in a covid safe way). What will return in 2021 is a strong focus on our people & our family, because if we’ve learnt anything in 2020, it’s how important that is! More organised rides out together, more online training together, more coffees together, more community stuff. More of the stuff that matters. If you have unused class passes on your MindBody account, please get in contact with us by January 31st for a refund. We owe a massive thanks to you guys for your support, phone calls, texts, kudos + ride ons this year & every year since we started training in. We’re real grateful for you! For now, go enjoy this well earned festive season & we’ll see you in 2021 with a new plan!
