24.01.2022 Pregnancy. Infertility. Contraception... What’s the actual deal with them? . . So it’s seen as the norm for women to be on some form of hormonal contraception (most of the pressure is out on us and not the male... story for another time) .... . Many of us have in the question in the back of our mind ‘does being on them pill’ impact my chances of getting pregnant in the future? . . The answer? There is no conclusive evidence either way. However... . . Having unprotected sex whilst you’re taking contraceptive precautions does nothing for your risk of STIs. . . Why is this important? Well although STIs are relatively easily treated (if you get regular checks and you happen to get an easy one to treat... no always the case BTW) they are the leading cause of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) . . Why does this matter? PID is a known cause of infertility, it can cause scarring to your tubes and block movement of egg and sperm, as well as cause damage to your eggs. . . If you’re in a stable relationship and you know you’re both not having sex with anyone else (this goes for some couple too) then STIs aren’t something to be stressed about (provides you’ve both been cleared) . . However if you’re single and ready to mingle and just relying on hormonal contraceptives... Remember: THEY DONT PROTECT YOU AGAINST STIs . . Condoms do more then stop you from getting pregnant. They stop those STIs that could impact your future fertility. . . BTW you should be carrying them around with you just Incase your partner isn’t. It’s always better to be safe than sorry

24.01.2022 It’s because of you that all of this is happening! We’re getting messages of women who are now finding the strength to voice their past and current and even women who are finding the strength to leave safely now. You might not be able to get a T-shirt but your actions of sharing and talking about this are making a difference too! ... This is the real power You. Are. Making. A. Difference.

22.01.2022 Loving all the photos of the empowered women that are wearing their T-shirts and making a difference

21.01.2022 These aren’t common in Australia yet, but let’s make them! @ausgov All pubs and restaurants should have these in their women’s bathrooms and have their staff training in knowing what ‘Ask for Angela’ means. It’s not going to solve the issue of Women’s safety entirely, but it may help you on a night out. Share this with your friends and spread the word... it’s Angela btw

21.01.2022 We can’t help wanting to help people that really need it. When it comes to Domestic Violence it can be hard to know what to do, for fear of putting the victim in more danger or saying the wrong thing. . . Here are somethings you can hold in the back of your mind. .... . Also our PowerToThePussy T-shirts are still on sale until the END OF SEPTEMBER. All profits are donated to @safestepsfv See more

19.01.2022 I love this quote. Whether it’s your friend, your partner, the person you’re ‘talking’ to, your parent, your sibling, your boss, your co-worker or the nice stranger who always waves at you. People can say many things, their actions will show you who they are. When you feel it. Believe it the first time.

19.01.2022 Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! . I’ve heard stories over the weekend of people’s first hand experiences with Domestic Violence, and have had many women tell me how grateful they are that people are talking about it, and their experiences are being validated. . .... If you can buy a T-shirt great! If you can’t buy a T-shirt, just talking about domestic violence can help someone feel liberated. . You never know how your words or your actions can impact someone’s life See more

18.01.2022 We get this question a lot. It’s a main fear of ours as women, that when we finally decide to come off the pill, our periods won’t be regular or they’ll give us trouble. . . Everyone is different. It is normal to get your period within 2-4 weeks of stopping your contraception (this does depend on the type you’re using, the Depovera shot is particularly different) .... . The main contributing factor dictating what your periods will be like when you come off the pill is; WHAT YOUR PERIOD WAS LIKE BEFORE YOU WENT ON THE PILL? . . If you were regular with no pain, then you can expect that they should go back to this state, providing you haven’t had any major changes to your life that can impact your hormones in that time ie. Large stressful event. . . If your periods were all over the place, or painful or you have a menstrual disorder ie. PCOS, hypothalamic amenorrhea, endometriosis... or metabolic disorders like thyroid issues or diabetes , then you can expect that your periods will likely go back to their troublesome selfs. . . The timeframe you were on ‘the pill’ was masking your dysfunction instead of addressing the underlying cause. So if you don’t get your period back after 21-35 days after stopping your hormonal contraception, you need to look into why that may be happening and address the underlying cause so you can reap the benefits of a normal regular menstrual cycle. 17.01.2022 I have been absolutely blown away by all of the amazing messages of people who have supported us, from; women that haven’t experienced domestic abuse first hand but want to still help out, have escaped a previous abusive relationship and of those who are currently in a safe house waiting to be relocated. What this experience has taught me is the power we can have when we all collectively stand up for what we know is wrong, and talk about it! I personally knew domestic abuse ...existed but I had no idea of its prevalence in people’s lives. People I would have never dreamt of. The type of people you pass everyday in the street. It just goes to show, that you never know where someone has come from, or what they’re experiencing at the moment. Treat others how you want to be treated and stand up for those that can’t do it for themselves. You’re all truly amazing and together we have raised enough money to relocate 3 survivors of domestic abuse, through @safestepsfv You’re all amazing beyond words. Even if you didn’t donate, or buy a T-shirt the fact that you’re reading this means that you’re contributing to collective awareness that will help make a difference. . . Our Power To The Pussy t-shirts are only on sale until 11:59pm tonight AEST! . . When you buy a T-shirt you go into the draw to win an amazing prize from over $300, donated by these amazing businesses: @_queenofallthings_ @sdprotocol @intersport_sale @scarletandgracearomas And our 6wkHR starting this Sunday!

15.01.2022 Alright alright. Let’s talk about LOW OESTROGEN. . . If you’re under the age of 45 chances are your Oestrogen levels are high enough (and maybe even too high), but keep reading because this might help your mum or your aunty or even your sister! .... . Symptoms of low Oestrogen - DAP (the opposite to a WAP) - Low bone strength - Hot flashes - Fatigue - Decreased muscle strength - Brain fog (low oestrogen has been shown to be a factor in alzheimers) . . Causes of low oestrogen - Menopause (naturally stops production of Oestrogen in the ovaries) - Liver not functioning properly - You’ve just had a baby? (Or still haven’t felt yourself after giving birth) - Have a brain based issue in your pituitary gland (rare) - Early Ovarian Failure - Just has a DnC (burn off the lining of your uterus) . . Oestrogen is made in your ovaries, fatty tissue and stress glands. . . Basically if you’re skinny, menopausal and stressed... you’re pretty much screwed. You’ve lost all of your sources of Oestrogen. . . - Have your fair share of oestrogens in food (check out the ‘girl powder’ recipe on our website) - do weight bearing exercise - talk to your doctor about HRT and if you should be taking testosterone too! 14.01.2022 A sign that can be discretely used by someone that needs your help because they are being abused. . . This was launched by the Canadian government and is used widely throughout the country. .... . When someone show’s you this signal it doesn’t mean you have to start an altercation. Safety is paramount for everyone involved. How you can check on the person safely: . . -Call them and ask questions that can be answered with ‘yes’ or ‘no’ (would you like me to call ‘000’? Would you like me to call a shelter or organization on your behalf?) - Use another form of communication such as email or WhatsApp (How are you doing? I need to talk, can you get in touch with me when you can?) - Other questions you ask; do you want me to reach out regularly? How else can I support you?

13.01.2022 Instead of telling you what to do, it’s much easier if you understand why it’s happening first, then you know what you have to do from there... A normal menstrual cycle has a 3 phases: - Follicular: this stage is all about growing your follicles until one eventually matures enough to be fertilized ... - Ovulation: your brain senses it’s safe to fall pregnant and your matured egg is released from the ovary and begins the journey down the Fallopian tube and into the uterus (takes around 5 days) - Luteal: this is all about the break down of the outer casing of your egg, sort of like the egg shell (called the corpus luteum) this break down happens when the egg isn’t fertilized by a sperm, and it is always a specific amount of time (between 12-16 days varying from person to person) So if you’re cycles aren’t normal, like in the instance of them occurring every 2 weeks, you have an issue in 1,2 or all 3 of these phases. 1. This period has to be anovultory (lacking ovulation) because there is not enough time to have all of the phases... remember if ovulation occurs then the body will have a period 12-16 days afterwards. 2. Energy requirement issue... this could mean your thyroid isn’t working properly, your blood sugars aren’t regulated (insulin resistance) or your iron levels are out of whack. Your body needs enough minerals and energy to be able to grow the follicle into an egg 3. Your super stressed out and the cycles happening every 2 weeks is actually just spotting before what was meant to be ovulation and then an anovulatory bleed at the end of the month What to do? - If you also have jawline acne and a mustache and chin hairs that shouldn’t be there, then go and get your fasting glucose and glucose tolerance test done, this will look for insulin resistance and PCOS - Super stress? And addicted to caffeine? Cut the morning coffee, and if you must, only have one after 9am. Opt for drinking 2 big glasses of water with fresh lemon to kick start your liver. This organ helps with production, breakdown and excretion of your hormones. - Check your iron levels... if you’re bleeding frequently and with high volumes, chances are your iron levels are low.

09.01.2022 Do you dread your period? Oooh daarhhling you’re probably high in oestrogen! Oestrogen is an awesome hormone that helps women feel powerful, happy and strong. Too much of a good thing can lead us dread what makes us a woman: - Painful boobs - Painful and heavy periods - Weight gain that won’t budge around the guts ... - Fatigue - PMS . . When Oestrogen is high in our body it can be caused from 3 main things: - Consuming fake Oestrogens; like plastics, chemicals and makeups (petro chemicals)... I haven’t checked if sniffing petrol affects this, but definitely would not recommend. - Livers not loving you; your liver has to break down your hormones and clear them out. When it’s not working because it’s trying to process other things *cough cough alcohol* it gets a bit sludgy and doesn’t work as well. - You’re not ovulating so your progesterone to Oestrogen ratio is off (more on this tomorrow though) . . So what do you do? - Stop using petrochemicals and plastics (also avoid petrol sniffing just as a general rule of life) - Cleanse your liver; start your day off with a couple of large glasses of lemon water. Taking a supplement like NAC also helps cleanse the liver and support your blood sugars (yes pls) - Eat more fibre! Fibre helps bind all the toxic left over Oestrogen to your poo, so you can get it out! If you don’t have Fibre you don’t remove it and it’s reabsorbed (for f*ck sake!) . . If you have the typical signs of Oestrogen dominance it can’t hurt to try the above, if you have no idea? Take the quiz in our bio to discover what hormone type you are. See more

09.01.2022 Giving the gift of untamed, no shit, know yourself as a woman and as a person. Somehow @glennondoyle has wrapped all of that up in 1 book. Rules: 1. Tag someone your friends, someone who needs to read this 2. Make sure you both like the page... 3. Competition ends Friday 18th At 5pm 4. You can enter from anywhere around the world. Seriously couldn’t rate this book more highly. For someone that doesn’t really like reading (and I’m quite slow ) I had to purposefully read this slow because I didn’t want it to end. I’ve already bought 3 extra copies for my friends and family, and the local book store keeps running out of copies. This makes the 4th copy I’ve bought! I wonder where I’ll get to send it to...
