24.01.2022 The Story Bridge, 1988 I believe this image is from a 1988 Bicentennial souvenir book. At this time the river was being celebrated and opened-up to the people, as maritime use had declined steadily over the previous few decades.

21.01.2022 1965 plan for Brisbanes city centre Expressways. Interestingly, most was actually built, although the Bridge Expressway project was scaled back, and thankfully the Petrie Bight Expressway was never built (only the partial interchange at the Northern end of the Story Bridge).

19.01.2022 Wheres our bridge?? If you look closely you will see all the piers are there and the approaches to the bridge are under construction. Date of this photo is probably late 1936 to early 1937.

17.01.2022 1971 view over Brisbane CBD - how things have changed! The Story Bridge looks just the same although it's immediate surrounds are a bit denser with new buildings. The CBD is incredibly different. And in the foreground we can see a newly built Victoria Bridge (the modern concrete version), the start of construction of the Riverside Expressway, and Adelaide Street not yet connected to North Quay....
