17.01.2022 #Repost from our very own @thestreetsbarber I have been less active on my social platforms over the past year, but this doesn't mean I have not still been doing what I love the most. People often ask me, 'Nas, are you still cutting hair for the homeless?' Yes, I am. But I've also been offering service in other environments as well. You see, over the years while cutting on the streets, I began to notice a few similarities between some of my street clients. They had eithe...r just come out of prison, or had spent a large portion of their lives in and out of the system. A few years ago, I thought to myself: 'why not take the skill of barbering and show it to people who are incarcerated?' Considering that barbering is what helped put me on the right path almost a decade ago, I started doing this in the hope that barbering could help those incarcerated as they looked to build a more positive future for themselves. Now, after a year, (with the help of my little brother @barbersteros) - we've completed our first program and I couldn’t believe how much the students have grown - both in terms of their skills, and their overall mindset. It's been a blessing to be a part of this experience. #wenotme #allpraisetothemosthigh See more

04.01.2022 #Repost @barbersteros BuzzMe is an initiative to help raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. People can get involved by getting a buzz cut or garage-inspired hairdo as we enter another 6 weeks of lockdown. Why not do something a bit different with your hair while you dont have to be out in public? BuzzMe will also help raise funds for R U OK? Day. R U OK? is an organisation that promotes checking in with your mates and starting a conversation that m...any people dont, around mental health and wellbeing. This initiative hopes to play a small part in encouraging people to check up on each other while we stay at home to help contain this virus. Being a barber myself, I find talking to people about their wellbeing, their challenges, and their goals and dreams can really open up the conversation on causes why people feel a certain way. Something as simple as asking someone Are you happy? or Are you OK? is enough of a catalyst for people to start talking. Thats what people need an opportunity to genuinely connect, to open up, and to share. We can all support each other by offering to listen to what people have to say. That simple act can mean a lot more than you might think. So join us in helping spread awareness for mental health and suicide prevention in our communities, by coming in for a mullet or buzz cut. If you cant bring yourself into getting a buzz, you can make a donation to R U OK?, an organisation doing great work in the mental health space. Lastly, one thing we can all do is play our part by regularly checking up on our mates, new and old, with a simple Hello or How are you?. Be the reason someone smiles today. Help break down the stigma of what is considered being strong mentally, by encouraging people to open up to others with how they really feel because ITS OK NOT TO BE OK! If yall want to get involved, were taking bookings for the 24th August 2020. Please DM to secure a spot ------------------------------------------ #wenotme Art work - @jlrtattoo
04.01.2022 REPOST FROM @thestreetsbarber - This little warrior is Nolan. He is 6 years old and I had the chance to first cut his hair 2 years ago. However, about one month ago - on July 16th of this year - this little guy was diagnosed with tumours on his brain and spine, as well as cancer. Doctors were able to successfully remove the tumour from his brain, but the tumor on his spine and cancer still remains. He will be undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for the ...next year, which means he will be losing all of his hair. After the operation, the doctors offered to bring someone to the hospital to shave his head before it starts to fall out, but his mother, who is a warrior herself, said no way, Im not going to do that to my boy. She reached out to me and asked if I could open the shop with just us there, to give him one last haircut before he starts to lose it all. His mother kept telling him that the only thing the cancer is going to take is his beautiful hair - and that since we were cutting it shorter, it wouldnt be able to take much anyway. Please pray for my little warrior. If you would like to help Nolan and his beloved family during this time, I have attached his GoFundMe link in my bio #cancersucks #wenotme See more
03.01.2022 To the whole Streets fam! If you or anyone you know wasn’t able to spend Chrissy with family this year, or are in need of being with some good company - Come join us on Boxing Day from 9-4 at the shop. Spend the day with us and enjoy some free toasties, fresh fruit, caramel slice and @tinmancoffeeroasters coffee. We’ll be playing our favourite Disco and Funk music all day and NBA basketball will most definitely be on in the background. Big shout out to our brother @mstokes39 for helping us with donations for the day and an extra big thank you to each and every single one of you for all your support throughout this tough year! We love you all! #wenotme #thestreetsbarbershop
02.01.2022 Our brother @__dannycox__ started with us as a guest barber, but we loved him too much at The Streets he is a guest no more!!
