23.01.2022 Loud, hilarious & full of life, meet Michael Young; our latest addition to the TSU team. Born and raised in Gladstone, Michael’s ginormous personality saw him set off on adventures early on in his career. Working his way up to large, well known companies to fashion weeks to setting sail and continuing his career on board cruise ships, he has certainly had a fun adventure. Michael was drawn to the studio because of the like-minded stylists that reside here. His next goal in ...his career, much like our other freelancers, was to be his own boss and have full control over the direction his career was heading - pathing the road to his empire! The energy day to day in the studio and the general enjoyment of the people he gets to be around each day (not to mention the prime location - vibe) was the icing on the cake he needed to make the jump. A lover of big blowouts, glamorous hair, edgy iconic haircuts and a good balayage and beachy wave. All with a cheeky grin on his face. His tip though is to embrace a little of what you have, work with it, not against it. It could be your greatest asset. If you love a good ol’ chin wag with your hair cut then Michael is your man. He’s a barrel of laughs and we are so glad to have him part of The Studio Crew. 16.01.2022 Have you met Corey? Corey is our lovely new comer from Toronto, Canada. She has been a coastie for the past 4 years after gracing our shores and landing in Brisbane in 2015. Taught at the Aveda Institute in Toronto after high school, Corey has dedicated 12 years to working for other people and managing their salons. It came time for Corey to take control of her own life and be her own boss. And she found US! She was drawn in by the chilled vibe, great atmosphere, bright ope...n space and the full of life, like minded humans that call The Studio Upstairs home. She loves playing with beachy blondes and beautiful brunettes, priding herself on creating styles that are effortless and natural but puts maintaining healthy hair at the forefront of what she does. She’s been all over the world with her hairdressing. From Canada to Australia, America to Coast Rica. One of her most interesting workplaces was working for Justin Bobby in a salon he owned in Nicaragua! Hows that for a random! It’s safe to say travelling has been a huge part of Corey’s life and we are so glad it has lead her here. After a challenging past year, Corey wanted to look back at this year as one she made steps forward to challenge and better herself and it is here she has landed. She is completely obsessed with the studio space and it is a big part of what makes her coming to work here all the while. When Corey isn’t in the studio she can be found in the surf carving it up, practicing pilates (which she is AMAZING at) or playing with her adorable pooches Koa and Chilli. Throw in a boozy girls lunch every now and again, who doesn’t love a boozy girls lunch, and she is one happy chickie. She describes her style as chill, beachy and laid back which totally lends to her effortless hairdressing skills and gorgeous transformations but every once in a while she loves to let her hair down and let her city girl come out.
