20.01.2022 Try these Affirmations: "I am the regulator of my standards and beliefs" "I feel stable and strong when I feel internal stability" "my evolution happens from a point of internal stability"... "I ensure I now provide myself a way of receiving clear messages, so I also give clear messages, and that I operate from a place of that internal stability" Being intentional in our thoughts, beliefs & core values is just as important for stability as how we listen to and move our body. Think of the musculoskeletal framework as the physical foundation from which we achieve stability in the body... if you want to go deeper... be intentional about the internal framework you are creating in your sub-conscious. Repeat these affirmations to yourself throughout the day and if you feel inclined... come back in 24 hrs and leave a comment - what did you noticed?
16.01.2022 Sunshine Physio RAYS OF WISDOM: Re.TEXT NECK If you do this posture your muscles and joints will likely pay the price!! Say hello to trigger points forming in your straining muscles and pain and stiffness developing in your joints as increased load occurs the more your head is tilted. Continue to do this overtime and you can anticipate an increased rate of joint wear and tear So be kind to your spine and choose the optimal posture marked with the tick This posture ensures... your spine is in what we call a 'neutral' position reducing excess load on your joints and in a posture which allows your muscles to be at their most relaxed. 14.01.2022 It seems a lot of people are struggling to sleep soundly lately... whilst this may partly be due to a noisy mind it can't hurt to make sure your body is as comfortable and supported as possible. Make sure your pillow isn't causing your head to be pushed up or that it's too low that your head drops down. Another hot tip to help your spine ...try a pillow between your knees if you are sleeping on your side. Keeping you feeling your best, The Sunshine Physio
12.01.2022 Get out of your head and into your heart... Whether you're male or female, whilst human connecting with your heart is empowering, peace creating and allows you to access your own inner wisdom. I highly recommend this as a way of allowing your life to be more full of flow and presence rather then effort and being stuck in your head. I have found my life has become so much more richer and exciting from connecting within. ... This is one strategy I personally find uplifts and empowers me: Step 1: place your hands on your heart Step 2: With your eyes closed place your awareness onto your heart Step 3: Breathe slowly and deeply (I.e. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds, hold for another 4 seconds) Step 4: Do this for 3-5 minutes each day. In time you may choose to meditate like this for longer. Step 5: If you feel like it during this meditation you can focus on the following to further strengthen your heart-mind connection... Focus on the following "I appreciate....", "I AM grateful for..." and "I care for..." I've tried this for others, however I also find it creates a stronger foundation of self love to appreciate the positive choices we make for our self that day. For example I appreciate that I chose to put healthy food into my body today. Self appreciation has such a positive effect on the body and mind. The Sunshine Physio
07.01.2022 Sunshine Physio RAYS OF WISDOM: BEST SITTING POSTURE It's the weekend! So whether you are sitting at the pub/ at home/ or still determined to get some work done at the office this is the recommended way to sit no matter what the chair. Firstly...... PICTURE 1..how most prolonged sitters usually end up sitting. Does this look like you, or your friend? PICTURE 2.. how most people I've seen believe they should sit PICTURE 3..how you are best to sit to support all joints. This is what we call a neutral posture In more detail... PICTURE 1 is a deal breaker as it puts your spine in a C-shape which puts extra pressure on your joints and strains your muscles. PICTURE 2 is a deal breaker for your back as you are relying too much on your muscles to hold you in this position and also this position increases the lower back curve too much to the point it places excessive pressure on the joints. PICTURE 3 is the winner as It allows the joints to be positioned in a way that will allow the least amount of muscle effort and also the least amount of excessive force on the joints of the spine. This posture allows for the spines natural S-shape to be supported. Find the happy middle ground between picture 1 and 2 and you will be there. BONUS FEEL GOOD: Once you are in this winning posture place a towel or rolled up jumper behind your lower back for extra support (if no built-in support is avail). This will feel amazing. EXTRA TIP: Apart from choosing a winning sitting posture make sure you get away from the chair. Evidence has shown movement is of high importance when it comes to keeping pain away. Keeping you feeling your best, The Sunshine Physio
