22.01.2022 The Sydney Retreat thanks Dr Andrew Davis for his ongoing support and raising $10,000 for The Sydney Retreat. On Monday 16th September 2019, Dr Andrew became the first solo swimmer ever to complete the Maui Channel Crossing employing exclusively breaststroke. It was a grueling 9 hours 26 minutes world record swim, covering 24km as recorded by the boats GPS. Furthermore, as a charity swim, it raised over $10,000.00 for The Sydney Retreat, https://www.thesydneyretreat.org.au/... a private, not-for-profit residential alcohol and drug and alcohol recovery program. Andrew commented he could not have completed the epoch-making crossing without the finesse of his Machiavellian local boat captain, Randy Kinores and his support crew of Lorissa Smith, Cronulla Surf Lifesaving Club and Simon Watkins, Bondi Surf Life Saving Club. Andrew is no stranger to the Channel, having swum it many times as a relay member with the Sociales. He was also the first and only Tattersalls member to have swum the Maui Channel Solo (freestyle, of course), back in 2006. Congratulations Andrew what a way to celebrate your recent 60th birthday! Thank you once again for your ongoing support of The Sydney Retreat.

19.01.2022 In Dr Silkworth's opinion, the action of alcohol on chronic alcoholics manifests in a type of allergy or 'phenomenon of craving', that compels the drinker to keep drinking into intoxication, blackout and eventually unconsciousness. https://www.thesydneyretreat.org.au//the-phenomenon-of-cra If someone you know needs help with alcohol or drug dependency, please contact us at The Sydney Retreat: https://www.thesydneyretreat.org.au/connect or call our CEO John Malone at 02 9171 2920

10.01.2022 Attached is the link to the latest annual success report for The Retreat in Wayzata, Closing Comments: "Outcomes from all of the programs continue to be very good as has been consistently reported since the inception of the evaluation in 2001. As noted in the report, The Retreat senior staff received monthly reports of key satisfaction and outcomes indicators, including guest comments regarding the most helpful and least helpful aspects of their time at The Retreat, as well ...as suggestions and comments. It has been the evaluation teams privilege to observe the smooth, thoughtful, and meaningful expansion of the services provided by The Retreat over the years. Noteworthy is the observation that as services were expanded there were none of the expected burbles in consumer satisfaction or the longitudinal outcomes as usually occurs within agencies as they grow. Quite remarkable. The primary reason for the completion of the evaluation was due to the retirement of the evaluator who has worked in the addictions and mental health field for approximately 45 years. During that time he has had the opportunity to work with literally hundreds of agencies across the United States. Unequivocally it is the evaluators opinion that The Retreat has one of the most effective models for recovery, some of the consistently highest consumer satisfaction ratings, and certainly very strong longitudinal outcomes." https://info.theretreat.org//Retreat%20Annual%20Report%20%
