16.01.2022 Performance management is not about embarrassing your employees with data against the data of other employees embarrassed people under perform. Humble people (who you want on your team) will also be embarrassed for those who are made an example from your poorly selected performance criteria. Focus on measuring the performance of the process of the system, not of people, and people will feel empowered. Encourage them to even make/suggest improvements to the system to make it... perform better. It’s like one guy using a hammer and nail compared a different guy with a nail gun. The guy with the nail gun will outperform the guy with the hammer and nail every time... But not because they're working harder! Because they have been empowered! Empower your team to work smarter, and you will get better, consistent and more reliable results! Identify ways for your team to buy into ideas and processes so they feel like they have control over their success! In this group, the coach would encourage other business owners to develop systems to create leverage. Leverage (ever more with ever less) was closely intertwined with Systems. But few people knew how to create systems... at least not not I did. So I started helping the group develop better systems in their business to drive the per...formance of their team, marketing, sales, operations and financials. As their businesses started performing better, I realised that I could do this for many businesses and make a living from it... and the best thing was that I loved doing it.
