16.01.2022 Ingredient Spotlight: Cardamom! Cardamom is a powerhouse spice that you will find throughout many of our blends (particularly our chai blends!). Besides having an intense, spicy & somewhat sweet flavour profile, this ingredient comes with a host of health benefits. According to research, Cardamom may be helpful in lowering blood pressure, may increase the activity of certain enzymes that help fight cancer, is highly anti-inflammatory due to its antioxidants and last but not least, it can ease digestion discomfort.

11.01.2022 Some teas are perfectly paired with milk and sugar. But why? Of course it’s a matter of personal taste, but in general, bold, astringent teas such as Assam and blends such as English breakfast, pair perfectly due to their high tannin levels. The proteins in the milk soften these compounds, giving a more smooth and pleasurable taste.

02.01.2022 INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT: Star Anise! Star anise is a spice derived from a tree native to northeast Vietnam and southwest China. The star-shaped pericarps of the fruit are harvested just before ripening, then dried turning it a deep brown or rust colour. The distinctive flavour derived from anethol, the same oil found in aniseed is what gives star anise it’s warm yet subtle, sweet liquorice flavour. Besides adding wonderful depth to spice mixes, particularly our carefully blended chai; star anise is rich in antioxidants and vitamins A and C, which help against diabetes and early signs of aging. It has also been shown to improve digestion as well as containing a compound that can help treat cold and flu-like symptoms.
