25.01.2022 We have just wrapped up WEEK 4 of our ‘10 Weeks of Giving’, and this week was dedicated to ‘Emergency workers’. Some of our plans were thwarted when we started this week with a little ‘emergency’ of our own... Remember the rain and storms last weekend? Well, some of that weather just really wanted to see the inside of our building...!! Yeah. What a week. ... But in all the craziness, we did still manage to deliver Subway lunch to Holland Park Police Station. We sure do appreciate Queensland Police Service. Thanks for keeping the community safe!

24.01.2022 10 Weeks of Giving Week 6: Families Lilo and Stitch said, Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. So during our 10 weeks of giving, we did not want to forget families. ... This week was dedicated to shopping for, and wrapping, gifts for 10 families: the kids, the parents, even the grandparents! These ten families were nominated by a local school. They are families who have been struggling, perhaps with health concerns, unemployment, loss of a loved one or other tragedy. This year, of all years, we want families to know WE SEE YOU. We know it’s tough. We know that sometimes, it feels you can’t catch a break. But we want you to know: ...there is help and happiness ahead. These gifts will be presented to the school on Monday, and we hope they bring happiness to those families. More ‘giving’ still to come, along with updates on previous weeks!

24.01.2022 10 Weeks of Giving Week 8 has been a week of Thanksgiving. We are thankful for our staff; they are a bit awesome - and this year, even more awesome than last! They’ve worked extra hard this year, planning, creating and running programs for our members. We never would have chosen to provide ‘remote/online’ supports were it not for COVID. But we did it! ... It hasn’t been easy - and certainly hasn’t been perfect - but our staff were dedicated to maintaining connections with, and support for, our members. Therefore, it was only right that one week of giving be dedicated to acknowledging our staff for the wonderful work they do. So TTP provided a fully catered Thanksgiving dinner* for our staff and volunteers: turkey, stuffing, ham, potato bake, sweet potato with marshmallows (it’s a thing! Look it up!) green bean casserole, corn, salad and bread rolls! There was even pie for dessert: apple, pumpkin and pecan varieties! We might have put our own Aussie spin on some of the dishes... we are Aussie, after all. But between you and me, it sure TASTED like Thanksgiving. The night included a surprise ‘secret Santa’ gift swap and other games. A good feed and good fun was had by all. *Shout out to Ricky and her kitchen elves at Prep Me Please who created a thanksgiving FEAST for a group of 50. You aced it!!

22.01.2022 10 Weeks of Giving Week 7: Children in Tanzania After learning that Maasai children in Tanzania eat one meal a day, and are lucky if they can attend school, our TTP community was moved to include them in our 10 weeks of Giving. ... Donna Duggan funds schools and other community projects through the profits of her Maasai Wanderings Safari business. Sadly, a loss of profits since a downturn in holiday travel due to COVID-19 has also meant a shortfall in the funds needed to provided a nutritious daily meal for the Maasai children at Donna’s schools. Sure, this has been a challenging year for us... But WE all still have food in our bellies. So with gratitude for all we have, TTP wants to do something to help feed Maasai students. Therefore, TTP is making a financial donation of $1,500 - enough to feed children at Donna’s school for at least one month. #payitforward #showkindness #givethanks
