25.01.2022 A few snapshots from a session with Tarryn from Tarkine Strings as we performed and filmed a song set for an interstate wedding.

22.01.2022 While my musical space was elsewhere during the 1980's, I remained aware of bands of the time, with their big hair, big shoulders and baggy pants. Despite being a dedicated prog rock / classical guitar aficionado, much of that charting music resonated and instilled itself into the soundtrack to my life. The Police, Ultravox, INXS (loved their music, disliked watching them), Tears for Fears, Kate Bush, Madness. [ 158 more words ] http://tigerdreaming.com.au/2020/05/16/mad-world/

21.01.2022 OR PANDEMIC SCHMANDEMIC#5 Coldplay are a polarising musical unit. People seem to love or loathe them and their work, their casual live approach, Chris Martin's falsetto and expansive, regular grin. I do have a couple of Coldplay albums in my collection and indeed perform 'The Scientist' as part of my acoustic setlist which regularly goes down well with most audience age groups.... http://tigerdreaming.com.au//a-long-distance-wedding-perf/

20.01.2022 I thought I'd let you have a listen to a song on the Cole Clark Fat Lady3

18.01.2022 While it is sad that a fantastic and popular live venue has been forced to close its doors, albeit temporarily, I was delighted to have helped them by singing o...ut their final night on Cattley Street. I look forward to continuing my support of Kirk and the team at Spirit Bar Tasmania when they source a better, more stable venue. Watch this space. See more

15.01.2022 OR PANDEMIC SCHMANDEMIC#4 My sister's next request was familiar to me. 'The Luckiest', by Ben Folds from his 2001 solo album 'Rockin' the Suburbs' is a beautiful, if not slightly left-field love song to his wife. Now, this one I knew quite well as that album gets a regular bashing when Kathy and I are in the midst of meal prep, renovations and the like.... http://tigerdreaming.com.au//a-long-distance-wedding-perf/

13.01.2022 From string ensemble to jazz, blues and contemporary, trust in the Tarkine Strings!

13.01.2022 or Pandemic Schmandemic#2 This post follows Pandemic Schmandemic#1 (check the link if you want to know what happened before). Once upon a time several decades ago, my sister told me of an early childhood memory of me playing the theme tune to a children’s television show on my brother’s guitar (Pat had set it aside once he’d discovered girls). The show was called ‘Tales of the Riverbank’, an English river setting where a bunch of small, furry animals got up to all kinds of mischief, such as driving tiny boats or flying miniature planes.... http://tigerdreaming.com.au//a-long-distance-wedding-perf/

12.01.2022 or Pandemic Schmandemic#3 Barbara threw in another request for her ever-increasing list of wedding songs my doing, really as I had suggested if I were to set up and perform one song I might as well play a handful. Grabbing the concept with gusto, sis then proposed The Beatles' 'Blackbird'. I was surprised at a choice that appeared to be another from her memory of me sitting quietly in my room as a teenager, using the music that others made to help me learn the guitar.... http://tigerdreaming.com.au//a-long-distance-wedding-perf/

10.01.2022 I'm at The Chapel Friday evening, playing an array of songs by James Taylor, Tonic, Crowded House, REM, Hootie, Sting, U2, Van the Man, Dire Straits (+ more) and of course a few of my songs from The Tramp, while you enjoy the great atmosphere. 6.30 - 9.30

09.01.2022 My old buddy needed to re-home a much-loved guitar. I tried to help but ended up taking on the responsibility myself. Your loss, #JoeManMurphy, my gain. Thank you, my friend. She will be much loved and played.

07.01.2022 A great evening at The Chapel yesterday, initiated by a very agreeable Sandy Gray Gin (a glass, not the entire bottle, like)

07.01.2022 My bruvva from anuvva muvva Gazza and me with our rendition of 'Under the Milky Way'.

07.01.2022 Cottage by the Sea by Michael Cannon from 'The Tramp: the music of Robert Aitken' as played on my new Cole Clark Fat Lady3.

05.01.2022 a long distance wedding performance, continued #4 OR PANDEMIC SCHMANDEMIC#6 'Of course,' I responded. 'Everyone's heard of the Foo Fighters.' However, naming one of their songs with any confidence was doubtful, although the name Dave Grohl has cropped up periodically over the years. Being the multi-instrumentalist past-member of Nirvana (and a rather charismatic chap), I became aware of Grohl as Nirvana's drummer, through their amazing 1991 top-lip* 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and its entertaining-but-bizarre video clip.... http://tigerdreaming.com.au/2020/12/26/foo-who/

04.01.2022 Here I am, performing the Tom Waits song 'Heart of Saturday Night' on my Fat Lady3. Thanks Joe Man; losses and gains, old chap!

04.01.2022 And swing they did!

03.01.2022 Blake Snake has a new jacket

01.01.2022 The earliest memory I've been able to drag from the rusting vault is one of me sitting on a bare concrete floor, lit by angled sunlight, while my father painted 'Cannon' on the lid of a small, green, moulded-cardboard suitcase. In my twenties (perhaps thirties I don't remember ;-D), I related the scene to my parents. Dad said they purchased the suitcase for our journey from Australia to the UK in nineteen fifty-eight, personalising it for the journey.
