This tiny island nation, otherwise known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, has fast become a popular tourist destination for holidaymakers. Its the perfect place for those looking to immerse themselves in local culture; a definite must-visit spot for watersport and wildlife enthusiasts; and a haven for history buff...s. Its home to some of the rarest animals, this wildlife hotspot, boasts the highest density of leopards in the world. Shannon from our office was lucky enough to travel to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has long been on my wish list, so I was very excited to get the opportunity to visit recently. It did not disappoint! From the very first morning, I felt as though I was in a tropical paradise and was continually surprised by the contrasts of this unique island nation. One of my first incredible experiences was an evening game drive in one of Sri Lankas many national parks. It was incredible to see hundreds of elephants roaming freely. Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world and was the highlight of my trip. Rising 200 metres above the forest, It takes about 45 minutes to climb but is well worth the effort for the views. We took the train from Kandy to the mountain station of Nuwara Eliya that is 1868 metres above sea level. The journey offers stunning views of the landscape, waterfalls and tea plantations. I was fortunate enough to stay at the Heritance Tea Factory. This is a stunning hotel that, is a converted tea factory where the following morning I experienced a short time as a local, complete with Sari. For such a small country, Sri Lanka offers great diversity. From the lush jungles with abundant wildlife, ancient history and the warmth of the people, there is something to attract every type of traveller. 08.01.2022 Oh how we miss Paris and its iconic sights, cafes and ambience. Paris France's capital, home to the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre-Dame, sidewalk cafes & high fashion. One of our colleagues Leanne was lucky enough to attend an educational trip to France and wrote about her experiences. I was lucky enough to be accpeted on an educational trip and travel by rail throughout France. Paris being the city of lights lived up to its name of being a must see place in the world. Every ...hour on the hour, the tower is covered in golden lights and sparkles for five whole minutes while the Eiffel Towers beam lights up the city. Seeing the Eiffel tower lit up from my balcony at night was a dream coming true. There is so much to see and to do here. The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and eating like a Parisian on the Champs-Élysées were highlights for me. We took the train to Reims, the Champagne region of France. The highlight here was visiting the impressive Veuve Clicquot Champagne House and dining at Domaine Les Crayeres, which is a classic French chateau. We also did a city walking tour of Reims which was fascinating. Paris is definitely one of our favourite cities.
