11.01.2022 For the followers that just need things to be simple. As I did when I started studying the equine foot! Close up of the equine foot slices medial to lateral ...(side the side- like a stack of pennies) From left bottom to right top in very lay terms. Hoof wall (Armour) Lamellae (Superman Velcro keeping the armour on) Lamellae corium (a bed of blood vessels feeding the Velcro Coffin bone (structural support that the Velcro sticks to) Blood vessels (the motorways, roads and tracks carrying food to and through the bone to the Velcro) Sole corium (the table packed with food for the sole) Sole (the armour at the sole) Lay terms for those just trying to get their head round all this. Let’s keep it simple. These structures have many other functions but for now let’s just understand that the foot is not a solid block of wood http://www.patreon.com/hoofstudies

11.01.2022 So Update I only have to isolate till next Tuesday , back at work next Wednesday - yep makes sense...... lol Long Story I will try and keep it short..... New border restrictions came in and I applied for new permit and it said I had to isolate coming back into NSW after working for day in Vic Now I thought I better ring up service NSW about this one. So I did the next morning - I explained my situation where I was and what I was was doing for work I was told I WOULD NOT need to isolate coming back into NSW providing I did not travel outside the zone on VIC side !! So I m good to go right , so I went and I came back same day and continued on with my daily tasks Fast forward to today police visit to make sure I am isolating um no I am not ! and this is what I was told by Service Nsw blah blah blah repeat what I was told nope I have to isolate I am told by the police . To say I am annoyed is an understatement IF I was told correct information I would have stayed in NSW of course, and unfortunately the horses in vic side would have to go without (don’t worry about animal welfare apparently that is not important!!) So Im now going to be stuck at home and unable to work , I have horses booked in for ESSENTIAL hoof care but they will have to be rescheduled for the time being.

10.01.2022 Apparently someone else is driving me for work today (if only)....... #thetravellingtrimmer

06.01.2022 You asked for it- here it is- very simplistic labels. Photo 2 and 3 shows you where I did my slicing. Right to left, across the foot, about 2 cm from the bottom... of the foot. This is why eventually we would hit blood if we take off too much armour with the knife and rasp. There is a multitude of soft tissue inside, each playing it’s crucial part. Be their voice. http://www.patreon.com/hoofstudies

05.01.2022 A little food for thought Here I have a wee little time line of My new horse Prince I think I have trimmed him twice since he arrived here from tassie.... ... So below you see pic of his near fore - what I have done well bugger all really - MOVEMENT running in herd over variety of terrain , I have a semi track thingy system in place and I have been ponying him out every other week to get even MORE movement - forage based diet pasture hay and grass - minerals Carol Layton’s Hoof Extra Um yep and like I’ve trimmed I’m twice or maybe once I actually don’t remember (please don’t growl) Nothing fancy just keeping it simple
