25.01.2022 As a local Queensland business, The Truss Company is a proud supporter of NAIDOC Week and all that it celebrates. This is a time to recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The theme for 2020, ‘Always Was, Always Will Be.’ highlights and celebrates our First Nations people who have occupied and cared for this country for over 65,000 years. To kickstart our celebrations, The Truss Company is proud to announce our support ...of regular timber donations to our local Northside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Men’s Shed. Our donation will assist Elders to provide ongoing youth training and development in basic construction and carpentry skills. This is a wonderful time for us all to learn, share and rejoice during NAIDOC Week. Stop by here and join in the celebrations: https://www.naidoc.org.au/ #NAIDOC2020

25.01.2022 We have all heard the phrase ‘work smarter not harder’ and that is exactly what prefabrication provides. At The Truss Company we are experts in producing timber fabricated wall frames, roof trusses and floor systems in our Zillmere factory. Our products are delivered direct for assembly to building sites right across the SEQ. There are many advantages for building with prefabricated products:... 1. Prefabrication reduces construction costs and time on-site. Your roof, wall and floor frames arrive pre-assembled. This can half the time required for installation resulting in less time required for carpenters, builders and other trades. 2. Prefabrication improves safety on-site. Your home can be installed faster meaning it can be locked up sooner. 3. Prefabrication is compliance certified. Your frames are designed efficiently and accurately to Australian standards. This ensures less defects, compliance, and quality issues. 4. Prefabrication creates local jobs. Your order helps retain key skills and employs locals ~ keeping manufacturing alive and strong in Australia. Build faster, be more cost effective whilst creating local jobs ~ the perfect way to work smarter. 16.01.2022 When we say, ‘built with experience’, that is exactly what The Truss Company is all about. As a proud family business, owners Bret and Bill Neilson have an astounding seven decades of expertise and knowledge in the timber frame and truss industry. Starting in 1963, Bill joined Wilkinson Timber to introduce the concept of timber prefabricated trusses using metal nail plates into Qld and more broadly into Australia. From there, he progressed into senior positions within the tim...ber engineering and manufacturing industry. With the introduction of softwood timber, he was key in the development of machine grading of softwoods for use in the manufacturing and its use and method in pine framing. In 2000, Bret and Bill joined forces to start The Truss Company. The company operates under a simple philosophy to provide a superior service and an experienced approach in the manufacture of timber frames and trusses for builders. It is no surprise that this duo are the most experienced in the business. There is no job too small, too big, no design they cannot answer, resolve, or suggest alternates. The Truss Company has delivered over 20,000 residential housing projects. Built with experience, ask for a quote today!

09.01.2022 We deliver every day to our customer work sites around South East Queensland. With safety as our core value, we want to ensure our drivers are able to work in a safe environment. This week is Qld Road Safety Week and a great reminder for us all to drive safe. Don't speed, don't drive tired or distracted, wear seat belts and most important ~ don't drink and drive.... We want everyone to go home safe. WORK SAFE = HOME SAFE.

05.01.2022 It is no secret that timber is combustible, but did you know that in a house fire, timber will provide better protection than steel? Many assume that as steel doesn’t burn, that it should be our preferred option for framing. However, steel used in framing is predominantly thin. When there is a fire, steel softens, distorts and collapses. This may result in the collapse of a whole area or building. Timber has a slight advantage as it does not suddenly collapse.... Timber framing maintains its structural integrity for a longer time and performs predictably once it is alight. Timber burns slowly as it has insulating properties. Slow combustion can be further achieved using structurally oversized timber beams and sections to allow for a larger core in your home and the use of denser, naturally slower-burning, timbers. It is important to remember all buildings have fire risks irrespective of the material chosen. The National Construction Code and the Australian Building Code requires the same level of fire performance regardless of the choice of material. At The Truss Company, we love timber trusses, frames and floors.

We want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas with their families and friends. Please drive safe, stay safe. 01.01.2022 We are certainly witnessing the surge in customer demand due to the Federal Government HomeBuilder grant. With the scheme due to expire at the end of December, The Truss Company hopes the Government heeds calls from builders to extend the scheme so more Queenslanders can apply for the $25,000 to build their new house or renovate their home. The grant has sustained the residential construction industry and helped to protect jobs during these unprecedented times. Let's hope it continues into 2021.
