25.01.2022 Happy Tihar to all our Nepali friends from The Umbrella Foundation Australia
24.01.2022 Photo and story Gmb Akash I need to walk more than 25 km every day from early morning to late afternoon in order to carry 1000 bricks. After transporting 1000 b...ricks, I can earn 100 taka (1.18 USD). My father can carry 12 bricks at a time but I cannot move more than 8 bricks and each brick weighs around 2.5 kg. We need to transport them from the manufacture to the burning kiln. I need to make around 125 trips to earn that 100 taka. During the first day of my job I was only able to move 300 bricks and after that my whole body was in such pain. The whole night was Hell and I could not sleep because my legs ached so much. But now every day I am trying to transport a few more bricks. My mother, father and my elder sister also work beside me. We came here 6 months ago from our town. My father was a rickshaw puller but there was too little income in our village, that my father had to take credits from many shops for our day-to-day food necessities. Now nobody gives us any more credits. For paying the debts my father suddenly sold his rickshaw and brought all of us here to labor. We have already managed 50% of our loan money. Now we need to earn the rest of the money. My mother always tells me to take some rest if the work is too hard for me. But I never listen to her nor to my elder sister. Every day I am trying to work a little harder so we can pay our loans back soon and then my parents can be stress-free. I was studying in class two before we came here. Oftentimes, I miss our home and playing football with my friends! But when we are dying without food, how can I pay attention to anything else! _ Nazmul (9)
