13.01.2022 This is National Recycling Week and a time for businesses and individuals to learn more about and implement new ideas for recycling. There is always something better than just throwing it into landfill and this is the perfect time to look at ways to reduce the use of resources, reusing and recycling the things we use every day. For me I have had to implement my own recycling strategies as my Council doesn't provide a roadside recycling service. (I know, right? What year ...is it again?). They do have contractors at their Refuse Centres for cardboard, paper and glass which unfortunately means a 35 minute drive each way and stockpiling at home for a recycling run. I do also have a friend who lives in the neighbouring shire who has offered to take my milk cartons so she can put them into her recycling bin, so that's a bonus. Containers for Change is also another recycling option I use for any cans or bottles, but once again my outdated Council only provides a Mobile Drop Off which is only in my area once a week. Still better than nothing but not available to everyone as it is only there in the morning one week and the afternoon the next. Although not easy, I do use the recycling options I have and use as many products as possible that are plastic free, reusable and compostable to reduce our recycling load. We only have one planet and I'm trying to make as many good choices as possible. I'd love to hear about the choices and the options you have, so please feel free to share them.
