The Village Groove Café is a 100% plant based/vegan café located in the Aldinga Arts Eco Village. Our values align with those of the village, with the aim to maintain a sustainable approach in all that we do. All of our waste is separated into various categories; including compost, soft plastic, worm food & recycling, which leaves very little waste going to landfill. All of our food service packaging is compostable & we support our customers to bring their own mug if ordering take away beverages. Most of the furniture in the café is second hand/preloved & some items are repurposed, such as our table colours. We are always looking for new ways to improve our sustainability. We believe the largest & most important aspect of sustainability & to support our planet, is by serving a full vegan menu. It is widely researched & documented that the meat & dairy industries have detrimental impacts on our environment. Lou's Shack .......................... Lou’s Shack Vintage and Vinyl is a store where you will find records, cassette tapes CDs, as well as a selection of Mid Century (Retro) ceramics, cameras, art, furniture, models, books, DVD’s on music & some classic movies on DVDs. Lou’s Shack also offers bicycle & kayak hire. Our sustainable business model starts with the articles we sell which all have had a prior life & given a Second Chance eliminating landfill, waste & of course emissions from the manufacturing of replacement items. Hiring goods is also a way of reducing waste with infrequently used items being available for when you want them, rather than being unnecessary possessions stored in a shed. The Shack itself was built from a Sustainable Forest, has double-glazed windows, insulated throughout, solar panels generating energy used, rainwater for use & of course using local sustainable suppliers for goods & services consumed in the business. A huge thank you to the customers and fellow businesses that took the time to check in on us Unfortunately, we won’t be able to open straight after lockdown as we don’t have enough stock for it to be worthwhile to open. Of course we all had no idea we would be able to open so soon so we were unable to prepare for this! ... We will be back open as of THURSDAY 26th NOV. And from there we will open EVERYDAY after that! There will be more GF options, cakes orders available and lots more new goodies once we reopen! We can’t wait to be back open and see all our valued customers once again See you Thursday
