12.06.2022 With harvest over we are starting to enjoy this peaceful time of year. I love having a cuppa and watching our chooks and peacocks foraging for bugs and snails, around our veggie gardens. I’ve tried encouraging them into the vineyards but they prefer to stay close to the house it seems where they can get the household scraps. I spotted one chicken the other day actually catching a mouse! I’ve heard of that before but never seen it. 06.06.2022 Do winemakers really taste wine all day?! At the moment as we head towards bottling in two weeks there is a lot of tasting going on as we check the final wines before they go into bottle - check out our stories But that’s not the reality for the rest of the year, when the majority of the work is cleaning, transferring wine between vessels and doing laboratory tests to make sure that the right natural processes occur and that spoilage yeasts or bacteria don’t enter the... wine We also grow our own grapes so a lot of time is spent in the vineyard as well as the winery and lab. Not all winemakers do this - in big companies some rarely step foot in a vineyard It’s definitely a vine to glass approach here at The Vintner’s Daughter Visit our cellar door on a Friday when you’ll find me (the winemaker) running the tasting and you can ask any questions you like about the winemaking process

25.01.2022 With a new vintage of Syrah 2018 very nearly ready for release, we've also been working on a few ideas for some exciting new early-release red wine styles which should be ready towards the end of this year But in the meantime, we still have some delicious reds to try at our cellar door and available for purchase online Pinot Noir 2019: a beautiful robust wine with bright raspberries, dark cherry fruits and a spicy earthy undertone.... Syrah 2017: intense pepper and vanilla aroma, red cherry, plum and cranberry flavours, lively acidity and a dried herb savouriness on the finish. Shiraz Viognier 2018: intense perfume reminiscent of blackberries, vanilla and lavender. Luxurious and elegant with a silky mouthfeel, flavours of black pepper, stewed plums and cherries and a lingering soft finish.

Your role will involve moving stock (including lifting boxes of wine), stocking shelves, cleaning and polishing glasses, disinfecting and cleaning tables and maintaining an immaculate venue. Most importantly you will be welcoming, friendly and well presented. You will work between 4-8 hours a day, one or two shifts per weekend. He took me out to the car park that morning where it had materialised! 13.01.2022 Always checking the crop It’s an anxious time for us at the moment. While the 2021 grape crop is looking fantastic there is still a lot that could happen between now and harvest and so we are holding our breath and crossing all our fingers and toes. Losing most of our 2020 crop was a major blow and we are feeling the effects now as we run low on some wines. ... Nevertheless we have some beautiful 2019 releases, such as the 2019 Pinot Noir, for you to try at the cellar door and purchase online.

13.01.2022 We’re excited to be rated as a 4.5 star winery again in the latest edition of the Halliday Wine Companion. We’re very proud of all our wines but particularly our 2017 Shiraz Viognier which received 94 points! Unfortunately as there is a lag time between when the wines are sent for rating and when the book is published we have sold out of the Shiraz Viognier and Gewurztraminer but we still have limited stock of the 2019 Riesling and 2018 Pinot Noir. Created from handpicked fruit from our 40+ year old estate vines. Made in the traditional method (méthode traditionelle) where the transformation from still to sparkling occurs entirely in the bottle. Aged on lees for 12 months. The result is a delicate wine with lovely citrus and white peach flavours, vibrant acidity, a fine persistent bead and a lingering creamy finish. 07.01.2022 Look what has appeared at the cellar door - our 2020 Riesling and 2020 Gewurztraminer! We know many of you have been waiting for these wines so they are already online for purchase and you can now book a tasting table at the cellar door through the website as well. We were fortunate to be able to make these wines as you might remember that we lost 90% of the crop so this is the 10% that we were able to save. Both wines were made with free run juice not pressings, which results in low juice yields and as such is an expensive exercise but the high quality juice is worth it. We have very limited stock of these wines so don’t delay

06.01.2022 Nice to see you survived the night! There was a light frost this morning but it looks like the buds escaped any damage. This is where we benefit from the great site selection by those who established our vineyard in 1978. The cold air drainage is excellent. Dad popped over at lunch to survey the vines as well. For those that are interested if you swipe to the end we found a couple of suckers on the ground that had a tiny bit of frost damage - it just looks like the edges of the bud have been singed.
