24.01.2022 People are often hesitant to select tiles [or specifically tiles with white grout] for a kitchen splashback. What they dont know is there are a lot of products on the market when it comes to grout, grout sealers and grout cleaners - all specifically designed to clean grease / food spray. Also, you could opt for a rectified tile which has a smooth, square edge ~ allowing tilers to lay the tile with minimal grout on display. This kitchen was all about that classic, Hampton vi...be; herringbone beaten edge tiles were another way to add a layer of pattern / texture to the space. I was initially concerned about the windows with the herringbone pattern - thinking it would look too busy and be fiddly for the tiler to bring that pattern into the window return. But then I decided to have the herringbone insert into a border of the same tile ~ worked a treat > SWIPE > Same impact from the herringbone pattern, not as fiddly and messy for the tiler. 21.01.2022 Well, work certainly looks different for all of us at the moment. For me its about reassuring clients that Im here working for as long as I can, thats all we can do. At the moment it means working from my bed or lounge as Im feeling a tad under the weather. Before you ask let me reassure you; Im self isolating and Im monitoring my head cold closely Im extremely fortunate that I can work from home and limit my interactions with people. Plus we have AMAZING suppliers... people!! They have been isolating and closing their doors, sending photos / videos of new stock and continuing to work through this until they absolutely have to close. What a bunch of legends!!! But yes, Im still here. You may not see me or meet face to face, I may not greet you with a handshake, but I promise, Im here. We are all still working; in any way, shape or form we can, until we simply cant anymore. 16.01.2022 Another holiday rental is complete and ready for Summer This Dunsborough home was a family holiday house for many years, until the family decided to turn it into a holiday rental. It was looking a bit tired and in need of some TLC, so thats where I came in After analysing the budget, the room parameters, selecting a fresh paint colour palette, opting for some new blinds and revamping the furniture concept for the main rooms ~ we were ready to go!! Once all was ...sourced I created an ordering schedule for the owners to follow; they were able to order each item off the schedule [item-by-item], have it delivered, and assemble / install themselves. It saved them a lot of time and stress because I did all the sourcing / budgeting for them PLUS it also saved their budget because they took care of the item ordering, delivery coordination + assembly WIN, WIN!! 12.01.2022 Well I thought the day was starting great; feeling fresh with a hot shower + cuppa tea. But Ive been struggling with an allergy infused head cold the past couple of days and I thought I was rid of it But alas, my jumpstart out of bed this morning was a bit premature. Its 9.30am and already my energy levels are officially back to zero. This lovely family saw me last year for about 6 hours [2 hours initial consultation in their home and 4 hours of follow up design assistance/documentation compiled by myself]. From the 6 hours of targeted design advice / product recommendations I comple...ted for them, the clients have been able to completely transform their kitchen / living / dining / activity room. They chipped away at the renovation in their own time and worked through the personalised design documentation I had created for them. 09.01.2022 CONSULT UPDATE - CORONAVIRUS Unfortunately this post is about the Coronavirus. I understand youre all probably sick of hearing / thinking / reading about it, but given the current situation, I felt I needed to address it. Firstly I am NOT infected, but today I have developed normal flu-like symptoms which Im going to monitor, however I am not going to take any chances. My existing clients have been made aware of this today, but new clients should also be made aware of how... this will affect my business. I wont be having any face-to-face meetings for the next few weeks AND Ill be refraining from outings in the community. Some will call me paranoid and OTT and thats okay, I have to do what makes me feel calmer about this situation, and I hope you can respect my decision. But if you would like interior / exterior design assistance, there are still MANY ways I can assist. If you have a floor plan / room measurements and images of your home, then I am more than happy to have a lengthy, informative Skype chat with you, discuss your wants / needs and create a fab, unique concept for you using my design software, sourcing savviness and creativity. We can still work together - YAY!! I had a chat to a few clients today and they understood; we spoke about scheduling regular phone calls / FaceTime calls etc. and it will not affect their project. Also, as far as Im aware, suppliers / manufacturers are still operating, so dont be deterred. If this changes, Ill inform my clients immediately. I hope this will be a solution to a temporary problem and cause the least amount of inconvenience to you. Hopefully we can contain this virus and avoid any of our loved ones getting ill. 09.01.2022 After 2 decades of being the central hub for a busy family, this kitchen was happy to have a little TLC [swipe to see the before pics]. Lucky for us the overall layout / functionality was good - [this helped when it came to changing plumbing / electrical fixtures] - so other than minor changes to the layout, I mainly focused on redesigning the overall style aesthetic. This kitchen will look just as fresh in another 20 years. Renovating can be tricky, messy and expensiv...e - its important to seek some advice before you start. Im taking bookings for 2020 now. 02.01.2022 This large, family kitchen belongs to some lovely clients of mine. They come from a family of cabinetmakers ~ so they definitely had a clear idea about what they wanted for the cabinetry throughout their home. They knew they wanted a light cabinetry colour here and a darker colour there ... but they needed assistance and some design guidance to select which shade.
