25.01.2022 Using natural and recycled items to number match with the children.
22.01.2022 Encouraging our self help skills with the use of bread and butter knives to cut with in play dough. We use the natural materials of shells to imprint with or to cut using their sharp sides and we use corks to pick up and push down to help build fine motor skills and muscles. All of this play is geting the children ready to hold pencils and attention spans for when they get older.
20.01.2022 Today i am grateful that i get to enjoy the beautiful day watching the sky with a baby whilst I listen and watch the others beside me digging and filling cups in the sandpit chatting to themselves happily.
18.01.2022 Hope everyone is having a wonderful day full of happiness and not to much chocolate.. lol
18.01.2022 This week we are roleplaying doctors to discuss our bodies. We have up xrays and dress ups exploring bones and bodies.
17.01.2022 This week the children have been investigating numbers and what they look like. What is there shape, how do you describe them, what is their name, how do we count, what do they mean and how can we use them in play.
17.01.2022 How exciting is it when we get to move our bodies in nature. The babies learnt body movement in going up and down a small ledge, which meant they had to slide down and climb up. The older children worked in a team to carry long sticks back to the wheelbarrow. Their sense of awareness in their surroundings was being activated with the children walking along pathways to get from area to area. We used language skills to discuss what we heard and saw whilst walking. I encouraged the children to lead me back to the house so that they have a feeling of empowerment in being able to direct and find their way rather than feeling lost.
16.01.2022 Using paints and corks to build up our fine motor skills and muscles to be school ready when the time comes. We are using the childs interests of painting to build colour knowledge, language skills to talk about their creations which also encourages literacy skills and promotes imaginative creation.
15.01.2022 An old school friend has started this new amazing business. If interested check it out.

11.01.2022 Today is educators appreciation day and I would like to say a thankyou to the wonderful educators I work with in Midcoast Family daycare who are caring, inspiring and wonderful. I would also like to acknowledge the new generation of educators in my family who welcome each and every child into our home and our family, my children. They are helping to grow these children through warmth interactions, welcoming attitudes and fun play. Thanks Mark and kids for being inspiring educators and loving warm people xxxxx
10.01.2022 Setting up natural play experiences for the babies allowing them to feel, taste, see and hear the leaves off the trees.
08.01.2022 We have been discussing our health in July and have started doing yoga. The children are getting involved and happily moving their bodies.
08.01.2022 Creating secret walkways in a natural experience to allow children to explore and grow appreciation of their natural environment. We look at what we have in our natural environments and how we care for it, nuture it and value the area through growing new plants and keeping the insects and fauna alive in the areas.
08.01.2022 Trying to break the 'good job' habit? Try saying one of these instead... Find the printable here - http://picklebums.com/25-alternatives-good-job/
05.01.2022 Moving our bodies with rythm sticks made by the children. They are twisting, jumping, hopping and dancing to the munch and move program.
04.01.2022 Incorporating natural materials into our environment for musical instruments and small worlds.
03.01.2022 Introducing the younger children to numbers and encouraging the older children to continue to learn numbers through a matching game involving cars. They are encouraged to come and match the numbers on the cars to their spot in the garage, through discussions with me to help them if they become stuck or find out hard. Because i have such high expectations and know each child well I am able to guide them and encourage them on further in their matching. Some children can match one or two numbers whilst others can tell me what each of the numbers are.
03.01.2022 What a wonderful final Christmasparty we had for the Warren FDC. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every family that has walked through our front door and stayed. Mark and I have enjoyed each and every experience we have shared since opening the Warren FDC.
02.01.2022 A day full of boys brings out dirt for sensory play, digging and filling, pushing cars through the dirt, emergency vehicles on the mat to push around, bikes with helmets to drive around on, balls on ramps to roll down, toys that react when we bang on them and then there are the quiet spots were we can sit and observe.
