25.01.2022 It was lovely to come home smelling of citrus as opposed to having a horde of flies following me home like most days These citrus trees got a proper and decent prune and their bed got a really good pronging in prep for some nourishment and mulch

Not only does it spread by seed, it spreads by the many nuts attached to it's root system Best to not let it get to seed and perservere by getting as many nuts out as you can every time you see them pop up

10.01.2022 Fishtail Oxalis is a pretty weed, it has large clover like leaves and purple/pink flowers that open during the night and close for the daylight hours. It doesn't spread by seed at all apparently and is notoriously hard to get rid of, even more so than nut grass thanks to numerous bulbs that break off the mother plant really easily and the fact that new plants can grow from any bits that are left behind. An interesting fact is that the main bulb of this weed will burrow deeper into the soil in drought conditions.

10.01.2022 Caustic Weed, it's everywhere! A weed that is native to Australia and it's sap can burn your eyes and skin so be cautious when handling these and wear the appropriate PPE. Interestingly, the Aboriginies apparently use this weed to treat snake bites and as an aid to healing amongst other things (www.herbiguide.com.au)

10.01.2022 This is Green Amaranth, a very common weed that isn't that special except that each plant can produce up to 117000 seeds It's also a bit of a bugger to pull out as it has a turnip like root that anchors into the ground. A client once remarked that it sounds like a cow eating as it was making a popping sound whilst i was pulling it

06.01.2022 Ha ha, haven't posted for awhile as my dad crossed the border and grabbed me and my little "fungus gnats" for a road trip up to Cairns for my sister's 40th b'day Couldn't help myself when I heard that she has been struggling to eradicate couch from a few of her garden beds so I removed all the runners and mulched the garden beds whilst I was at it
