22.01.2022 When you practice Gratitude, there is no room for anxiety. Get a notebook and write 3-5 things a day you’re grateful for... it can switch your brain from a limiting/fear base to an abundant mindset. Look at what you do have, not the things you are lacking. We are so fortunate to have fresh running water, working phones, internet, family, friends, medical access and a million other great things Here is a scientific article validating the benefits of this humble practice... https://www.collective-evolution.com//scientists-show-ho/

13.01.2022 HOW STRESS CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN Did you know constant mental stress leads to the chronic activation of the neuroendocrine system. You see, stress triggers a fight or flight response in your body which releases hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol (the stress hormone). Adrenaline prepares your body to take action and minimises your desire to eat. ... Once the adrenaline effects wear off, Cortisol hangs around. When you have constant high levels of Cortisol flowing in your system, you tend to crave more snacks that are high in sugar and fat and this is what ultimately leads to central fat deposition. Ongoing stress also causes changes in our hunger hormones - Ghrelin & Leptin, and this causes an increase in appetite Not only does stress impact your weight, it’s also a major cause of hormone imbalance, risk of disease, mental health and your body’s overall immune system. Here are my Top 5 tips to help you reduce stress: 1. Start your mornings with a mindfulness guided meditation. My recommended apps are Gaia, Headspace and YouTube 2. Write a To-do list before you go to bed to put your mind at ease and start the next day with more control. 3. Take Magnesium every night. This will help your body relax and increase your chances of having a good nights sleep. 4. Move your body & connect with Mother Nature - get outside, go for a walk or get to the beach 5. Create time & space to do something you love on a weekly basis eg. Hobbies, Reading, Netflix, Epsom salt baths , or catching up on sleep See more
12.01.2022 The 2 common pitfalls clients come across when they try to add "meat-free" meals to their week: 1. You feel hunger kick in soon after a plant-based meal 2. Those friendly greens just don't quite make your taste buds sparkle The sparkle mostly comes from foods rich in umami. It's that lingering savoury taste that makes all the bone broth, parmesan, crispy chicken skin & caramelised meat so full flavoured and delectable. Reducing these umami foods in your diet can als...o mean reducing flavour, which gets a big NO from me The good new is that umami is found in vegetarian fermented foods like miso and soy sauce. Check out my recipe for the only Miso-Ginger Dressing you'll ever need. This is my secret weapon in adding big, satisfying umami flavour to meat-free meals It is delicious stirred through cooked vegetable salads, rice, tofu and noodle salads. Tag a friend below who needs this recipe! Miso-Ginger Dressing 1 TBSP white miso 2 TBSP rice vinegar 1 garlic clove minced 2 TBSP sesame oil 2 TBSP greek yoghurt 2 TBSP extra virgin olive oil See more
07.01.2022 IS THERE TOXIC WASTE IN YOUR BODY? Almost 80,000 toxic chemicals have been released into our environment since the modern industrial revolution, and and many have long-term impact on human health. According to research by the non-profit organisation EWG (Environmental Working Group), the average newborn baby has 287 known toxins in his or her umbilical cord blood. This is insane!... The simple truth is that we are living in a sea of toxins and it is destroying our health. We accumulate toxins all day, every day through the air we breathe, the food we eat and the products we use. This is what holds many people back from having the health they dream of. The reality is that many of you probably have symptoms of chronic toxicity but don’t realise that you’re toxic. If you suffer from any of the following, detoxifying is a critical step: Chronic Fatigue Difficulty concentrating Excessive sinus problems Joint pain Sleep problems Trouble losing weight Constant Bloating/Gas Skin problems Muscle aches Water retention Here at The Wellness Project we use Functional Medicine lab testing, to help you uncover the exact toxins that are creating imbalance in your body. Once we get to the root cause, we can then support you with a detoxification plan that will lead you back to your full health again. 07.01.2022 Functional medicine is the best-kept secret in science and medicine today. It’s collaborative, holistic, healing focused - an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. The conventional model of care is to diagnose a disease and match that disease or condition with a corresponding drug. To use an analogy, imagine you get a rock stuck in your shoe, and it hurts your foot. If you look for help in the current medical s...ystem, you may get a diagnosis of foot pain along with directions to the nearest pharmacy for some extra-strength ibuprofen. Sure, ibuprofen would help to reduce the pain. But wouldn’t it be better just to take off your shoe, find the rock and dump it out? This is what Functional Medicine is all about. The "rocks" that are driving chronic disease are overwhelmingly environmental and behaviouralpoor diet, lack of physical activity, sleep deprivation, exposure to toxins, stress, and many more. This real & revolutionary approach is why Functional Medicine is the future of medicine
