20.01.2022 #ATTENTION: WordPress Website Owners If you have a WordPress website that uses Elementor plugins, then please be aware that you may encounter some issues with your website when it is updated to the new WordPress 5.5 version. WordPress Version 5.5 disables the migration tool known as jquery-migrate by default. This breaks the features and functionality of many Elementor utilities and widgets.... SOLUTION: - Delay updating your website to the latest version of WordPress. - If you have already updated to WordPress 5.5, then try and install 'Enable jQuery Migrate Helper' plugin. This will sort out your issues.

16.01.2022 This week I completed re-designing the website for the Yuroke Boarding Kennels & Cattery. 15.01.2022 Most small business owners have a big WHY which inspired them to get started with their business. My 'why' was the need to find a way to better balance my career aspirations and family obligations. It all started way back in 2012, while still working full time in corporate and the desire to find more flexible work options. A lot of research, trial-and-error, failures, and small wins have helped me to get to this stage in my small business. My 'Why' still stands the same and is the main reason that keeps driving me forward on this small business journey of mine.

13.01.2022 Recently I completed creating a brand new website for Anushka and her partners for their growing business "GAMSAT Academy". This was an all inclusive project which included everything from branding, design, custom funcationality and even integrations. I really enjoyed working on this website as it started with a 'blank' slate and it allowed me to be flexible and creative as I wanted without any boundaries. I am so proud of the end result and the clients are thrilled to have an awesome website for their business. Check it out: https://gamsatacademy.com.au/

13.01.2022 When was the last time you looked at your business website? A website needs some ongoing attention to ensure it's delivering value to your business. Here are a few things you need to check regularly. #1 Is your content fresh? If you haven't changed the content of your website for a long time, then you are missing out on SEO.... #2 Is your website's design aligning with the latest trends? If you still have outdated templates and layouts on your website then you are missing out to your competitors. #3 Do you have functionality embedded into your website? Today features like newsletter signups, contact us forms, Freebie downloads are everywhere. If your website isn't providing for these then your business is losing some great opportunities. So it's definetly time to take a look at your website and do some updates. If you need some support to spruce up your business website, We Make IT Work is here to help you. Message us to find out more.

13.01.2022 #EVERYONE'S_JOURNEY_IS_DIFFERENT During the last couple of months, I was busy helping my lovely clients to get their businesses online with awesome looking websites. Each project was different, each business owner had their own unique story to tell. For some it was the design, for some it was the branding and for some, it was all about the functionality...AND that's how it should be. "Your website should showcase who you are as a business or as an individual."... I enjoyed working on all the projects and getting to know each and every business/owner and their vision, goals, and values and custom designing websites that works for them.

11.01.2022 Calendly is another business tool which I find very useful for my business. Are you using the 'Calendly for Chrome' extension? If not, you should definitely give it a go.

11.01.2022 One thing that keeps me going is the satisfaction I get when I see a clients website up and running successfully. I have been working with Alison from VirtuAlly Virtual Assistant over the last month helping her launch her website. The website is now live and looking amazing!!!

11.01.2022 As a small business owner, I use quite a few tools to help me with day-to-day business operations. There are 3 tools that are critical to the smooth operations of my business: #1 Asana - My project management tool that tracks and controls all my client work as well as my business activities. #2 Canva - A lifesaver for non-graphics designers like me! I use it for my own business as well as for all my client projects. #3 Invoicely - This basically handles all the financial aspects of my business and keep my records in order.

10.01.2022 I recently completed a web design project for Jim Mangioros. Jim is a Motivational Speaker, Mentor and Counsellor and founder of Endless Horizons Organization. The project was delivered in 3 weeks and the client was delighted with the outcome.

10.01.2022 What do you do when you are looking for a local service provider (e.g. baker, caterer, plumber, salon, florist, etc). You would most likely 'Google it'. Then visit the websites which are presented to you on the google results. You would then take it from there and make your choices based on the information you see on those websites. So basically the local businesses who have websites become for your first go-to options. This is how a majority of consumers behave today. If you... are a local business without a website, then you will be missing out on your potential clients and loosing out to competitors simply because they have a website and you don't. It's time to think wisely!!!

10.01.2022 Do you own a small business and dont have a website for it? If you said yes, its almost as if your business doesnt exist. We are living in a digital age and people are using the internet for almost everything. If youre on the fence about investing in a business website in 2020, here are a few facts to consider.

09.01.2022 "Don't be quick to judge. This person has chosen to do what's best for their family and that doesn't mean they have less to give in a job," Alison Black, on a career break for 8 years.

09.01.2022 Q: What is the ONE thing you must have on EVERY page of your business website? A: Call-To-Actions (CTAs) How many of your website pages have CTAs?... The CTA is what takes your website visitors from where they are to where you want them to be. CTA prompt engagement and leads to conversion. CTAs should be big, bold, and colourful. Ideally, it should be a button or a very prominent text link. CTA should have an attention-grabbing text and should be strategically placed on your web page. Take Action: #1 Add a CTA to all web pages that currently don't have one. #2 Review all existing CTAs to see if they meet the above requirements. #smallbusinessaustralia #smallbusinesswebsite #websitetips #womeninbusiness

07.01.2022 Did you know that 22 May 2019 was 'Flexible Working Day'? "Flexible Working Day is an international day to celebrate and showcase the benefits of flexible work for both people and organisations. The day also marks a call to action to tackle flexism. Vanessa Vanderhoek, Founder Flexible Working Day"... Since becoming a mom, I have been a strong advocate of flexible working practices. It is one of the reasons that drove me to start freelancing and working for myself from home. I wrote a blog post some time ago about how a Home Based Business provides a good solution for flexible working. I have done some minor updates and reposted on my business website. Please feel free to share your experiences.

06.01.2022 Service-based biz owners...does your websites HOMEPAGE have these 3 key elements? (1) Hero Section: This is the first thing someone sees when they land on your website and this should clearly define who you are and what problems you solve. This information should be available above-the-fold on your homepage so that it captures your visitor's attention within the first few seconds. (2)Call-To-Action: For a services business you need to encourage your website visitors to bo...ok a Free Discovery Call. This is your chance to introduce yourself, explain your services and processes to the potential client, and see if you'll be a good match for each other.Your CTA should appear prominently on a few strategic locations on your homepage. (3) Freebie: Giving away something for free (a guide or training) is a great way to build your email list and offer value to your community (and will lead to more sales down the line). Why do you need them?.....Because they are instrumental in driving client engagement and conversion.

05.01.2022 It's been awhile! Running my own business has been a roller coster with the ongoing highs and lows. It's specially during the low times that we need to keep our self in-check to ensure that our own unguarded thoughts(mostly negative) doesn't keep pulling us back from where we want to go!

05.01.2022 I'm a big Asana fan. I use Asana extensively to manage my business activities. One thing that really stands out for me is its ability to integrate seamlessly with dozens of other business applications which allows for increased productivity. For now I use about 3 integrations quite intensively. #1 Gmail and Asana --> To automatically create tasks based on emails. #2 Toggl and Asana --> For time tracking for client projects.... #3 Mailerliter and Asana (via Zapier) --> For lead generation activities. There is so much more you can do with Asana integrations. Find out more below.

03.01.2022 If you are a small business owner based in Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania, then I recommend you to take a look at this programme. I've enrolled and participated for a few of the workshops through my local council and they were really really good. The workshops were organized well and the presenters really know their stuff. I found it very valuable for my business. https://asbas.melbourneinnovation.com.au/

01.01.2022 Around this time last month, we had the so called MailChimp Drama which sent a lot of small business owners into panic mode. MailChimp introduced quite a few dramatic changes on their free plan which caused many to look for alternative options...me included. Since then I have switched to MailerLite and I'm loving it! Here's why I switched and why I have no regrets whatsoever: #1 MailerLite is very user-friendly, it is very light and fast #2 MailerLite allow for multi-step aut...omation for Free #3 MailerLite has a lot of integration options #4 MailerLite customer support is amazing So if you are a small business owner still thinking about switching from MailChimp, I would definitely recommend you to give MailerLite a go.

01.01.2022 Backing up your WordPress website regularly is very important. Unfortunately, a majority of new WordPress users are unaware or simply overlook the need for setting up a backup solution for their websites. Sadly there is a very high chance that eventually you will face a hard lesson that you never forget. If something with your website goes wrong, you could lose everything!!! So don't take that critical risk with your business website. Setup a Back Up Solution TODAY! My personal recommendation is the UpdraftPlus plugin. This provides an excellent solution for small businesses. Not only does it let you manually take a backup, but it can also automatically backup your website to the cloud on a schedule of your choosing, as well as easily restore a backup with just a few clicks. The free version takes care of all the basics you would want.

01.01.2022 It gives me great satisfaction to know that I have made a positive impact on my Client's business.
