21.01.2022 2017 is shaping up to have the worst flu outbreak on record with more than 70,000 cases of flu have been reported so far including a record breaking 30,000 cases last month. Its not too late to get a flu shot!

20.01.2022 To all Members/Service Users/Volunteers MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL IS DUE! Yes its that time of year again; membership for 2017-2018 is due for renewal. Being a financial member allows you to vote at our Annual General Meeting ... and to be part of decision making in the year ahead. Membership costs only $5.00 and is put towards the services offered at The Haven. For those renewing their membership please return the renewal slip that has been posted out to you with your $5.00 to the office or by post to PO Box 8006, Seven Hills West 2147. New membership applications can be picked up from the office or call 9672 3600 to have one mailed out.

10.01.2022 The Linkage to Care Project aims to better understand the reasons why some people with HIV disconnect from HIV treatment and clinical care. The National Associ...ation of People with HIV is looking for HIV positive people who are either currently not taking HIV medications (Anti-retroviral therapy) or who have at any stage in the past five years stopped taking HIV medications. If this is you, we would like to invite you to participate in a phone or face-to-face interview, with a researcher. The interview would take approximately 30 minutes and would be confidential. The interview would explore reasons for disconnection from care, decisions around treatment, challenges to staying connected, and reasons for reconnecting with care. Participants will receive a $50 voucher for taking part in the interview. Who do I contact if I want more information or want to take part in the study? If you would like more information or are interested in being part of the study please contact Jeanne Ellard via email [email protected] Women, Heterosexual Men and people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds are notoriously under represented in these sorts of studies, if this is you then please consider participating for the benefit of ALL people with HIV in Australia

08.01.2022 Become A Volunteer With The Western Suburbs Our volunteers perform a variety of jobs and are an integral and important part of The Haven in fact we cannot survive without them! The Haven holds volunteer insurance which covers people who are signed on as volunteers. Volunteers carry out duties to assure the maintenance and smooth running of The Haven and may include:... *Caring for respite guests *Help coordinate the grocery shopping program *General maintenance and gardening duties around the Centre *Driving clients to and from medical appointments in our car *Helping with food preparation, washing dishes, and general kitchen duties for weekday drop-in lunches. *Help with day-to-day activities around the house including housework *Help with group activities and outings. *General administration & answering phone calls on the guest/volunteer phone *Grocery shopping Our fundraising activities Throughout the year, we undertake fundraising activities in order to raise funds and promote the work we do. You can support these activities by participating in events, volunteering your time or by contributing financially to our campaigns through donations. 08.01.2022 Thankyou to everyone who bought tickets in the Mothers Day Raffle. 1st and 2nd prizes were won by hospital staff and 3rd was won by a ticket buyer from Wentworthville. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day.
