23.01.2022 We are very excited to announce that some changes will soon be happening to Library of Things Sutherland Shire. We have partnered with some amazing new volunteers who are as passionate as us about community, reducing waste and living sustainably. Together we are working on evolving this little community library into something amazing for the Sutherland Shire. Keep an eye on our page... more details to come over the next couple of weeks.

Yesterday we proudly loaned our coffee cup library to the team at Wildlife Emergency Response to support a community workshop right here in the Sutherland Shire. A group of amazing local volunteers came together to make pouches and wraps for the wildlife that are suffering as a result of the recent bushfires. ... Well done to you all! If you would like to borrow our coffee cup library (with 100+ cups) for your next event, market, school fete or other gathering, please reach out, we love to share.

18.01.2022 {LOT 008 CUTLERY SET} Say NO to single use plastics at your next do with this neat little set. This cutlery set contains 15 forks, knifes & spoons and comes complete with a lovely bamboo holder (with space to add your own napkins or condiments). The set can be borrowed for only $5 (+ $20 deposit that is refunded upon return of the set.) ... The set is provided clean and in EUC and is expected to be returned in similar condition. Loan period of to 3-5 days at a time. Pick up & Return to Caringbah South.

The Wheel (formally known as 'Library of Things Sutherland Shire or LoTSS) is an independent organisation located in the Sutherland Shire. ... Why the Change? As mentioned in a previous post, we have come together with an amazing group of new volunteers and have recently incorporated to form 'The Wheel'. Keep an eye on the page for an introduction to the new team. Will there still be a Library of Things to borrow from? YES, absolutely! We have incorporated and formalised a few things to really rev up this community library. You will see some more details in the coming weeks about this. As a sustainability hub, in future, we will also be working towards providing the Sutherland Shire community with other resources to support a more sustainable lifestyle. Stay tuned!

15.01.2022 Calling all abandoned, mis matched, odd-and-end reusable plastic picnic ware!!! Given how useful and popular the kids party pack has been in our community, we are pulling together another pack thats more suited to adults parties. So far we have about 18 large plates, 12 small plates/bowls, some forks, knifes, spoons and teaspoons. We would love to build up to a beautiful eclectic kit of about 40-50 of each. ... If you have any reusable plastic picnic ware that you no longer need, we would love them! Please remember - no disposables, these should be sturdy reusable items, dishwasher safe and in good condition capable of being used over and over again. If you have some that you would like to donate, please send us you pics via comment below or PM. :)

14.01.2022 Check out this article about Inner West Tool Library Sydney! Our current barrier to growth is similar to what Amy from IWTL describes in the article... SPACE!!! To take this community library to the next level we are now in need of a proper home (that isnt my garage). If you or someone you know, has a spare 50-100sqm of space please reach out! Whilst we are not picky, and will consider anything on offer, there are a few things high up on the wish list...... _it needs to be located in the Sutherland Shire _it should be easily accessible for the public to visit and borrow/return items (ie. not a private home garage) _it needs to be lockable for safe storage of the library items. _it should have access to amenities and a space that could be used for community meetings/workshops. ...oh and one more thing. As we are trying to ramp up a fabulous community library on a shoestring budget, we would love for it to be FREE or token rent.

13.01.2022 We like spanners, but not the ones that have been thrown at The Wheel recently! A couple of months ago we posted to let you know about the exciting updates and changes to the organisation. Like many businesses and organisations, Covid-19 has been a spanner in the works for us and has unfortunately delayed our plans to launch. Whilst we have been a little quite on the socials, rest assured we are working our way through our new plans for launch. We look forward to giving you all an update really soon. :)
