24.01.2022 Just arrived! The GlenDronach 1989 Kingsman 29 year old limited edition, crafted by the GlenDronach Master Blender Rachel Barrie, in collaboration with the Kingsman film series producer, writer and director Matthew Vaughn The GlenDronach being his single malt scotch whisky of choice.

24.01.2022 Glendronach 15 years old The Revival (2013 bottling). This has for over a decade been one of my favourite whiskies. I regular return to it and each time its deep, intense, rich Sherry, toffee, damp cellar, plums, raisins flavours.. all the things Glendronach is known for just shines with this bottling. The newly updated version of this now contains both Oloroso Sherry and PX and understandably many prefer the newer release over the older Oloroso only version - Ive done a... side by side and whilst Ill happily drink the new version, something about the pre-2015 bottlings of Glendronach 15 cant be found in other whiskies. They of course contain spirit much older than 15years on the label, due to the mothballing of Glendronach in 1996 and reopening in 2001, spirit up to 5 years older was used to make up for the shortfall in inventory. Personally, I think Im drawn towards the dry/spicer notes that the Oloroso pushes in this whisky. I do love a tasty PX cask dont get me wrong but with such few bottlings of the pre-2015 available, this whisky is only getting more special with each limited dram left to savour. Have you tried both Glendronach 15 releases yet?

03.01.2022 This might be the cleanest Laphroaig Ive had the pleasure sampling. This elusive bottling from indie bottler Eiling Lim whos motto is lifes too short to drink bad whiskies is absolutely right when it comes to this stellar whisky. On the nose, youre instantly transported to Islay. Seagulls in the distance, sound of the waves against the wet rocks, cool sweet sea breeze. Coal fire burning. Close your eyes and youre there. Named after Bessie Williamson, being the first wo...man to manage a Scotch whisky distillery during the 20th century and former owner of Laphroaig. Bottler Lim explains, "I think I dont have to mention the origins of this bottling. It was another whisky which I chanced upon a few months ago which made my day. The fact that I could not mention the name of the distillery is not going to stop me from bottling it in my NAS whisky label range which after all they are meant solely to be opened, shared and enjoyed." Tasting notes. Smoked fish, medicinal notes and thick mechanical smoke, citrus, candied fruits with medium length some ash waving you goodbye. This is no doubt a laphy. Bottled at 51.3% ABV. Thank you to a good friend for letting us sample this amazing whisky.
