22.01.2022 Congratulations to the Aussie women on another fantastic performance. Thank you to all the amazing women of the Elsternwick CC and happy International Women’s Day. We are very excited that women’s cricket will be coming to the ECC in 2020/21!

22.01.2022 For those in the Elsternwick Family that have some money left after Christmas... Stephen Mott became the youngest ever person to play 1st XI cricket at Elsternwick CC when he debuted as a 14 year old in 1978. He went on to have a fantastic career at Coburg playing over 200 1st XI games. Stephen has written an autobiography titled Hard Luck Motty which chronicles his life including his time as a youngster at Elsternwick Cricket Club. Hard Luck Motty is available at all on-line book sellers world wide and may be of interest to those who were at the club during the 70s and 80s.

20.01.2022 The Main Oval and the Holmes-Todd had a mix of young, with the Craig Shield team having a practice match, and old, with Over 60s cricket being played at the same time on Sunday. Great photo from Ang Portelli.

19.01.2022 We have a new member of the 400 club! Last Saturday against Moorabbin, club legend Bryan Hammer played his 400th game for the ECC, joining an illustrious group alongside Barry Todd, John Dunnachie and Mark Dunstan (John and Mark also played in this game, pictured below). Bryan's stats sheet from his 33 year career is as impressive off field as it is on it: > 5 1st XI games > 106 2nd XI games > 114 3rd XI games (inc. two premierships) > 175 4th XI games... > 4th XI captain > Highest ever club score of 196 (+-8) > 10357 runs 28.3 > 11 centuries > 53 half centuries > 6 wickets @ 19 Best 4.2 overs 3-19 > 170 catches 17 stumpings behind the wicket > 7 times leading run scorer in 4ths > 1 times leading run scorer in 3rds > 2 2nd XI batting averages > 9 4th XI batting averages > 2 outstanding batting awards > Secretary (amongst a string of other volunteer jobs) for an incredible 23 seasons Congratulations Bryan on your incredible achievement!

08.01.2022 The club is approaching its 120th anniversary and efforts are being made to add to the historical records of the club. Past players Ross McCulloch and John Hurse are leading the charge, investigating newspaper archives and contacting many past players. A particular gap in records exists for the 1971/72, 1972/73 and 1973/74 seasons, in particular the award winners during this period. If you can shed any light on who won the batting and bowling awards in these seasons, pleas...e contact the club. If you have a trophy in your possession from this period, please take a photo and send it to the club so we can update our records. Equally, if anyone has any score books or other documents from any period of the club’s history in their possession the club would be grateful to gain access to them. Please contact the secretary at [email protected] if you have information or documentation that may help in the club's endeavors. See more

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Noah Portelli and Charlie Wolf who were named co-captains of our J G Craig side at our cap presentation this morning. Charlie and Noah have both shown tremendous commitment to the ECC J G Craig team and selection process over the last 2 seasons and we are sure that they will lead the team in a highly competitive effort in January. Well done to all those who have made the team in a year where trials and selection was heavily impacted due to CoVid and competi...tion for spots was very tight. Thanks to Will Smith and Angelo Portelli for their efforts in pulling everything together and also a special mention to David Wolf and Assistant Coach Rory Freeman. Together you have done a wonderful job. Full side is as follows: Ben Lucas Port Melbourne Benjamin Brooks Bentleigh Charlie Wolf (c) South Melbourne/Elsternwick Chris Kellaway (vc) East Sandringham Finn Wright Port Melbourne Jackson O'Meara (wk) Le Page Park Jake Matthews East Sandringham Liam McCashin South Melbourne Luca Reid South Melbourne Luke Cannard South Melbourne Noah Portelli (c) Elsternwick Will Blitz Bentleigh Will Lourie East Sandringham Let the games begin..... 03.01.2022 BACK TO BACK! The Elsternwick Cricket Club has once again won the VSDCA Spirit of Cricket Award. Our 4 senior men's teams scored an average rating of 27.75 to win the award ahead of Ormond CC and Bayswater CC. This is the 3rd time in 6 seasons our club has been recognised for playing the game the right way, respecting our opponents, umpires and the game. Congratulations to all players, administrators and volunteers!

03.01.2022 3rds go down by 9 runs after contributions from Andrew Chisholm (42) on one leg, Cooper Davies (35) and Ben Cooper (21). Tough to swallow after coming so close but it was a great experience for our very young group and we are super excited about their potential to progress through the grades in the coming seasons. Well played to Endeavour Hills CC and all the best in the Semi Final next week.
