23.01.2022 WE’RE HIRING - WOMENS COACH FOR 2021 Are you keen to be a part of the oldest district club in the VAFA? With over 100 years history we’re particularly excited for 2021 which will see the use of brand-new facilities at our newly resurfaced oval. 2020 was going to be the launch of our inaugural women’s team, but unfortunately with no opportunity to get on the field this year 2021 will be the year.... The club had over 30 women training regularly through June 2020. Elsternwick Amateur Football Club provides a fantastic opportunity for an experienced coach looking to further their development, or an experienced player looking to transition into coaching. The candidates will preferably possess the following: Level 1 coaching accreditation or be willing to obtain The willingness to work in a strong coaching group and make valuable contributions Excellent communication and leadership skills An enthusiastic and hard-working personality Willingness to assist with developing all players The ability to assist with developing and implementing training plans and match-day strategies. Coaching fee negotiable

22.01.2022 We’re pleased to announce the signing of our new Senior Women’s Coach, Rob Green and Senior Women’s Assistant Coach, Drew Menard welcome to the Wickers! Rob brings a wealth of footy experience having played 400+ games across his junior and senior footballing career, as well as holding a number of coaching positions. Rob joins us from his most recent roles as coach with the Flemington Junior Football Club (boys), Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS) and Lowther Hall G...irls’ football programs. With his experience running his own footy kicking program (Footy Kicks) we know Rob will be the perfect addition to the club to help develop both our male and female players. Drew will be a valuable addition to our club coming off the back of co-coaching the Flemington under 16 girls to a premiership in 2019. Drew is from the USA but has fallen in love with AFL footy since moving to Melbourne. Having a background in gridiron and basketball, he has a unique insight when it comes to game strategies. Drew also comes from a management background and loves helping to build a connected and functioning team, as well as helping each team member surpass their goals, both on the day and throughout the season. Having originally gotten involved to help with his 2 daughters' teams, the new and exciting culture of women's football has made a convert of him. 17.01.2022 2020 has definitely been an interesting year for everyone but it is also a special year for the Wicks. This year marks the 100 year anniversary of our first senior premiership after losing only one game all year in the VAFA A Grade! We would then go on to win the flag again 5 years later. It is also the 50 year anniversary of our first ever Reserves premiership who went all the way in 1970. ... 08.01.2022 One of the true legends of our club’s daughter Blaire is experiencing significant health challenges at the moment and friends of Gary Rosewarne’s daughter have set up a go fund me page to assist her and her husband in this particularly trying time. A link is attached to this post where you can read about their financial plight and Blaire’s pregnancy issue’s. They are currently trying to raise $10,000 but suspect they will need considerably more. It would be very much appreciated by the Rosewarne’s if members of the Elsternwick family could assist their cause by donating to Blaire’s go fund me page.

07.01.2022 The club is thrilled to announce the signing of Dylan Jones as playing assistant coach for season 2021. A high flying ruckman who is also elite at ground level, Dylan joins the club from Bonbeach in the MPNFL and will bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the role. Dylan has an outstanding playing resume with achievements including: 2x MPNFL league medal runner up 1x Bonbeach Best and Fairest winner 2x Bonbeach Best and Fairest runner up... 6x Member of the MPNFL interleague side Member of MPNFL Team of the Decade 2010-2020 Sandringham Zebras (VFL) player 2010-2012 We can't wait to see what Dylan can bring both on and off the field as we gear up for a massive 2021 season! 02.01.2022 VALE Bill Bell who sadly passed away last year from natural causes during the height of the pandemic. Bill will be remembered as an extremely passionate Wick who notably was President in 1990 and during our 1991 Premiership season which broke a 40-year trophy drought. His son Steve was a member of that 1991 Premiership side. There will be a memorial service for him at Black Rock Yacht Club this Friday 5 February from 1-4 PM. ... Elsternwick AFC sends its thoughts out to the Bell family.
