16.01.2022 The Great Barrier Reef Drive CAIRNS TO CAPE TRIBULATION Cairns Kuranda Port Douglas Julatten Mossman Daintree Cape Tribulation ... Where we stayed - Feathers 'n' Friends - Julatten - $8 per night per adult, kids under 12 free Set in the beautiful hills of Julatten this has to be right up there on our list of favourite ‘farm stay’ style accomodation. Owners Les and Carol are super lovely and share the property with you as if you were family. Find this little gem on WikiCamps This was our main base for exploring the area and home for our van as we visited Port Douglas, Mossman The Daintree & Cape Tribulation Cape Tribulation Beach House - $160 per night for a family cabin when you book directly or Cape Trib Camping from $22 per adult, kids $10, kids under 5 free. Both are fantastic options for families and we loved seeing the different styles Cape Tribulation has to offer Port Douglas - Sonia’s at Ramada Resort Port Douglas - - We got a super great deal for a few nights so decided to treat ourselves and find out why Port Douglas is famous for its many resorts Greenpatch Reserve 72 hour RV Stay - Free - Gordonvale (Near Cairns) Fantastic facilities and lovely grassy sites, we based here to explore Cairns & Kuranda Find this one on WikiCamps Return Ferry across the Daintree River - $31 OUR TOP 10 1. Riding through world heritage rainforest to the beaches of Cape Tribulation with Cape Trib Horse Rides - Unforgettable 2. Journeying through mountains and waterfalls on Kuranda Scenic Railway 3. The Lagoon - Cairns - Check it out! 4. The scenic drive AMAZING!! 5. The beaches INCREDIBLE!! 6. The forest BREATHTAKING!! 7. The wildlife absolutely everywhere we visited! Butterflies to Cassowaries and everything in between! 8. The walks and waterholes the many walks and waterholes throughout the Daintree are truly spectacular! 9. Getting the feel for catching a Barramundi with the kids at Hook-A-Barra in Wonga Beach 10. Beautiful Barramundi and the incredible gourmet spring rolls from Barramundi Gardens in Julatten Mossman Gorge and The Daintree discovery centre still remains closed due to Covid so we didn’t get to visit THIS time but we are happy too have an excuse to come back! Even though it looks a short distance on the map to really experience this drive and enjoy everything it has to offer give yourself the time to take it all in, it’s so much more than just a drive We had two weeks but could have easily stayed longer so much more to see
