25.01.2022 While tending to my garden this morning I discovered some of my marigold flowers had broken off at the heads - probably disturbed by my clumsy possum friend. Not to worry! These gorgeous sunny yellow beauties make a lovely addition to my coffee table where I can enjoy their sweet faces and lovely healing magic. 25.01.2022 Just before a thunderstorm blew in, I ran outside to collect these beautiful baby pink roses from my garden. I have been so enjoying their gentle beauty. Rather than let these sweet velvet petals be lost to the wind and rain, I'll dry these to be added to spell bag and pillows, medicine pouches and floral talismans. Pink roses hold energetic properties of beauty, comfort, self-confidence, emotional healing and being content with oneself. They represent youth, friendship, sw...eetness and an open heart. In the traditional 'Language of Flowers' (1800-1930s) pink roses were translated to mean grace and beauty, "I admire you".
17.01.2022 Enjoying this stormy evening curled up on my couch with a mug of homemade pumpkin soup, listening to the rain and brushing up on some reading and research. Pretty ideal way to spend a Wednesday evening!

03.01.2022 A beautiful friend invited me to go back to Bunnings this afternoon and these flowers just jumped right into my trolley...they are sneaky like that! ;)
01.01.2022 All flowers have a different meaning. Different symbolism, different medicinal and metaphysical properties, different historical messages as well as cultural or religious significance. And then there are some flowers that mean something just for you, something deeply personal that is steeped so profusely into your memories that your very soul reacts to their sight, their touch and their smell. For me, marigolds will always connect me to my grandad. Grandad may have left this... world over 12 years ago, however one glance at those vibrant yellow and orange blooms, gently rubbing the leaves between my fingers and inhaling their distinctive scent and I am back in that garden, 5 years old with grandad by my side, him patiently teaching me how to plant seedlings for the first time. Fast forward to us quietly checking on them daily, watering them, enjoying their perfect flowers and upon the death of those colourful heads, grandad showing me exactly how to pinch them off once dry to collect to seeds so that we could start all over again when the weather was right. Marigolds remind me of how I first fell in love with flowers and nature, they remind me of my first best friend and teacher, they remind me of a treasured childhood and of my first real lessons in patience and the cycles of life, death and rebirth. It is for all of these reasons that my favourite colour is orange. I know of many meanings to the messages from the humble marigold, though none of those that I've learned hold as true or as powerful as the memories and teachings my grandad left with me. Dear grandad, I will pot these marigold plants for you, and as I tend to them and nurture them, I'll know that you are there.
