15.06.2022 Enjoying a glorious afternoon at Zig Zag Winery ... Ben loves the Pet Nat, the sparkling Shiraz a perfect match for today’s heat for Mindy Leow and Evan drinking the Cabernet Sauvignon slightly chilled, thanks to owner Harriet’s recommendation! A glorious stop on our bike ride.

12.06.2022 I haven’t had many Carmeneres in my time, but this 2015 Terrunyo produced by Concha Y Toro was a delightful experience! Hand-carried from Chile by my husband, we found its colour, a spectacular clear deep purple and the layers of flavour most fascinating... rich but subtle forward berry fruit upfront, cranberry and boysenberry, with a deliciously rustic back palate of tobacco and earth. Yummy! PS. Note the alpaca jumper, also a present from Santiago! which I’m hard pressed to take off due to it’s incredible warmth.

30.05.2022 Mother’s Day delight... Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir 2012. Wow! Delivers a gorgeous savoury palate and rich, full mouth feel. Predominately plum, with a bit of blackberry, ripe banana and a moist forest floor aroma.

13.05.2022 Such a delightful savoury wine to drink while cooking Lemon Chicken... My recipe: Pan fry sliced chicken breasts, lightly dusted with gluten free flour, salt, pepper and a bit of cayenne in a few tablespoons of EV olive oil and good quality butter. Transfer to a plate when mostly cooked. Sauté quartered mushrooms and sliced red onion, set aside. Return chicken to pan, heat and add 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice to coat and caramelise, add mushrooms, and chopped fresh herbs (Italian parsley, coriander and/or basil) and serve! Voila, dinner in 20 min! Serve with freshly steamed broccoli and brown rice.
