25.01.2022 Lunch at the Club

25.01.2022 The bushfires impact everywhere. Like other stall holders, the Wombat Den did not even sell enough to cover the stall fees for the Hall Markets.

24.01.2022 Hello Everyone. The end of 6 days of Chemo for Gordon. So far he is coping well. A big shout out to the Oncology team at the Canberra Regional Cancer Centre. Week 2 and 3 ahead of us and then another 2 cycles of 3 weeks each. The September Hall Markets should go ahead but without the Wombat Den. Gordon's Health comes first. Our website is still down but please feel free to contact us via email or phone. [email protected] 0487620748

23.01.2022 Dead as a door nail. After cleaning his room and making veggie slices and zucchini bread for the neighbourhood care packages the Wombat took to the lounge ;-)

22.01.2022 New marmalade : Grapefruit, orange and lemon. It took a bit of experimentation to find the right combination.

22.01.2022 Hello everyone. Well, pending a major outbreak of Covid 19 the Hall Markets should start on 2 August. The Wombat Den had to cancel our stall for August because after 2 years in remission Gordon's cancer has returned or there is a new cancer. Between all the medical appointments we won't be able to prep for the markets. Hopefully we will be able to start the markets again in September.

18.01.2022 Stay safe, stay healthy. There will be no markets for the foreseeable future. Ute's hip replacement was brought forward to yesterday and I will be on crutches. We are out of Power Berry but otherwise we can deliver supplies.... We will be dropping some boxes of jams at the local food bank (surgery got in the way). We are calling on all our customers to take stock of their non perishable food supplies and donate anything you won't use up within the foreseeable future (Hubei Province is back to a new normal and let's hope Australia can flatten the curve) to your local food bank and don't forget the hundreds of rolls of loo paper. The 3 of us including Gordon the super user only go through 3 extra long rolls per week. I know, our paper gets delivered every 4 months (48 rolls). Trust me, you and your family will not need years supply of loo paper!!!!!! Go and help the food banks who will see such an increased demand with people being off work. What a change, cleaning was considered unattractive, now cleaners are a safety net against Covid19 and our nurses have value again not the paper pushers and IT geeks.

17.01.2022 Would all Wombat Den customers who have been adversely affected by the Corona Virus please contactus by email or text. We would like to brighten up your life with some Wombat Den goods. You will have to collect from Ngunnawal. Ute had a Hip replacement and with Gordy and Bob his dad we are in lock down. [email protected] 0487620748 Stay safe, look after yourself, keep an eye out for your neighbour, hang in there, nothing stays on the same.... PS we have a small stock of spare loo paper

17.01.2022 Ok, we have a new domain, now I just need to set the up the new web page ;-). There will be no markets until next year. We are experimenting with new baked goods.

16.01.2022 Help needed. Ute is locked in the house with Gordy and his dad trying to look after everyone after a total hip replacement. There are no markets and Gungalin Leisure Centre is closed. Gordy loves art and I am Trying to keep up his skills and keep him from going stir crazy. To this end I am trying to build a window shed for art activities without exposing all of us to toxic fumes as we are facing winter. I've never done this but I am asking for help. We need roofing material...s, insulation, cladding. Money is always good. Thank you hampers available. Art work etc I have managed to keep the Wombat Den and Gordy and His dad going through 13 months with a hip replacement, a knee replacement and a second hip replacement 12 days ago, the drought, the fires. Now Covid 19. Life ain't fair. Ute - horse, boat shed Gordy - tiger, frog, bluebird, wombat

12.01.2022 We have been making marmalade but our berry supply is not great. With the Corona virus and the Gungahlin community markets on hold until a new venue can be found we will continue to do home deliveries. Email us or call us. [email protected] 0487620748 Unfortunately our website is still off line ;-(

11.01.2022 66 large jars of Grapefruit, Orange, Lemon marmalade. Today's production run.

10.01.2022 Hello, the Hartley Hall Markets are due to restart on 2 August but that was the plan before the flare up in Victoria. We are awaiting advice from HPS how we will be able to operate. The planned ceasing of restrictions may not happen this morning weekend. Like everyone else we are in a wait and I see situation. The Wombat Den is a social enterprise and we continue to offer "cheer up" care packages of baked goods and jams/marmalade. Just send us a text or email with your prefer...ences. Life is hard but it enough, let's offer and accept kindness from each other. Stay safe, stay well, be kind to yourself look out for each other. Gordy is hugely missing the social interaction. A friend described Covid 19 like having a craft group, one person working with glitter and everyone gets glitter on them. This virus is so contagious. It has been 100 years since the last pandemic. 09.01.2022 We have been trying out some new recipes with mixed success. Hoping to start painting next week. This weeks baking project is brioche.

09.01.2022 Gordon is back in the kitchen, zucchini fritters for dinner and zucchini and carrot cakes for the Wombat Den Care packages. Gordy did not like squeezing the zucchini :-(

08.01.2022 Wombat Den Lasagne ;-)

08.01.2022 Hall Markets tomorrow, Sunday 1st March. GF baked goods including our yummy peanut butter cookies. Marmalade, jams, jellies, lemon curd.

07.01.2022 Update on the Wombat. After 9 weeks of chemo Gordy picked up a nasty gastro bug (CDif) and I managed to get him back home a bit week ago. CT scan is clear but bhai tumour markers are all over and we will have to wait till the end of November to see where they settle. In the mean time it is trying to get food into the young man and start the road to recovery. Thank you for all your support. The Wombat Den has a limited supply of stocks and we will be able to do home deliver...y starting in November. Just call, text or email what you would like. Unfortunately our website is still down. We are taking orders for Christmas cakes. See more

06.01.2022 Need some Christmas decorations. Have a look at Christiane's ornaments. She also makes amazing bird bath, dog bowls, vases, mugs etc. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2765719410365744&id=1673871882883841

05.01.2022 Gordy and Belle recovering from today.

03.01.2022 The Wombat is missing going out. Gordon is always up for high tea and a glass of Bubbles. Since there are no outings Ute has set up an in-house Cafe. Getting dressed up and getting out the good plates and glasses.

02.01.2022 Update On the Wombat. Gordon was breathing through the first two weeks of Chemo. Week 3 brought hair loss and gout. Gout is now controlled and he has started his 2nd 21day cycle. It's Netflix movie marathon week.
