24.01.2022 Woods Farm Fun Facts about Alpacas! These guys arent just a pretty face, so we decided to collate some of our favourite facts about our Paca crew to share with you. Alpacas can be house trained! Yep, you read that right. There have been many Alpaca owners known to have their Paca babies inside their home with them. Theyre so clever that they will let their owners know when its time to go - although we probably wouldnt encourage you to keep one in your inner city apartment.... Alpacas are used to protect heards like sheep and goats, and will chase of foxes, dogs and other threats. Alpacas like to do their business in the one place, even outside in a heard, they generally will have a communal pile to poop. They have super hair! Their coat is flame and water resistant. Unlike sheep, Alpaca wool is hypoallergenic, so it doesnt cause allergies to humans, or make you sneeze and itch, plus its also waaaaay softer. People often get Alpacas mixed up with Llamas, but did you know that they are also relatives of the camel? Alpacas hummm to one another to communicate. They can live up to 20 years, so these guys are a life long commitment. They are not solitary animals and do not like to live alone. So now you know how ah-mayzing these wooly wonders are, who is keen to keep one in their home?
