15.01.2022 For anyone who has not yet heard, Kangaroo Island has been swept by a terrible inferno, The fires killed a local adventure tourism pilot and his teaching surgeon son, it has killed and maimed thousands upon thousands of native and livestock animals. It has destroyed many, many houses, the Flinders Chase National Park visitors centre and a number of private visitor accommodation facilities, including The Woolshed KI. It is with an aching heart I have to report that The Woolshe...d KI, along with my own house, all machinery and all other buildings, were completely obliterated in the conflagration. The Woolshed KI is no more. In time, we aim to build another place for visitors to enjoy staying in when they visit South Australia's island jewel. It will be different and necessarily will have a different name. I would like to thank here the hundreds of individuals who have sent kind messages of love and support and who have offered to help clean up and rebuild. At the moment I am trying to process the destruction and have yet to form a plan before I take the next step. A request: The fire has destroyed all photographs I had of the accommodation as both hard drives and back-ups were left when we evacuated. The only photos I have are those that appear on the website. If any past visitors have photos taken during their time here, I would love to receive a copy of them. Post them on this page or email them to [email protected]. 13.01.2022 Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) is a large cockatoo easily identified by its mostly black plumage. It has a yellow cheek patch and yellow panels on the tail.
