24.01.2022 Behind the scenes: while filming near mount Bromo, in East Java (Indonesia) the volcano suddenly erupted. It didn't stop the crew from finishing the shoot that day :). https://vimeo.com/195418113

08.01.2022 Dear followers, The filmmakers of The World Ended on Mango Street are looking to speak with survivors of Lampersari concentration camp in Semarang City (where Yvonne Holman was imprisoned). The filmmakers have uncovered evidence that sexual abuses might have occurred in a number of concentration camps during the Japanese occupation of the former Dutch East Indies, and they need to conduct further research to find out if Lampersari was one of the concentration camps that were... affected by this horrendous crime, as it could provide an explanation for Yvonne Holman’s silence. They would like to ask the survivors if they have any knowledge or experience of sexual abuse occurring there. Rest assured that any information the filmmakers receive will be treated with the utmost care and privacy. They would not feature in the documentary itself, as the filmmakers are only looking for background information. Please note: The alleged sexual abuses that the filmmakers are researching, that were committed against the prisoners in the Japanese concentration camps, are different to the crimes committed against the so-called ‘comfort women’, who were subjected to sexual slavery. The two crimes took place in different locations. The alleged sexual abuses the filmmakers are researching took place in the concentration camps, whereas the ‘comfort women’ were abused in brothels that were located in different areas to the concentration camps. You can either contact the filmmakers via e-mail at [email protected] or you can use the private messenger on the film’s official Facebook page. Thank you.
