25.01.2022 Project : North Parramatta A marble floor with very uneven lipping due to careless laying of the marble tiles previously. Deep scratches appeared on various areas. We grind and level the marble to remove the lipping and polished up the floor to a beautiful shine and finish with clarity and its natural colour.

25.01.2022 This is a beautiful house in Hurstville Grove, well it is designed like a resort similar in Northern Queensland, The owner Roger requested the new travertine tiles to be ground flat to the groutlines! Yes, after much hard work in grinding and grouting, we were able to polished up these tiles to a very nice smooth and silky finish. Roger was over the moon, and so were we because Roger shout the best Fish and Chips in Sydney plus a few beers to go with it ;)

20.01.2022 Removing acidic liquid etch markings and honing down a highly polished marble finish for practical everyday use. Highly mirror like polished marble finishes do ...look very appealing with sharpness, however it is very impractical as far as keeping it looking clean and spotless. Many of my clients have asked me why their suppliers or retailers do not inform them the careful cleaning instructions and maintenance required for these type of marble surfaces. In the case of acidic liquids such as cola, soft drinks, wines, vinegar, orange and lemon juices, they can have a detrimental effect on the polish on the marble hence leaving patches of dull spots, dull rings from wine glasses bottom, and in most extreme cases, very rough etched surfaces. Furthermore, many tiny scratches also a lot more visible from a mirror like marble polish finish. To understand why polished marble is prone to acidic etching, we have to go back to factory polishing process, many people thought that the highly polished marble finish has been sealed with some form of gloss coating or similar, and also mistaken once is sealed it is going to be mirror like looking. However this is far from the truth, your highly polished marble finish is actually been ground and polished in many stages to a desired finish. The process would be as follows, once the slab is cut to size and sliced in the quarry/factory facilities, it is then brought to a polishing table where various machine polishing heads operating either manually or by computer to polish the slab to high polished finish. The typical stages would be using 50 grit diamond pads/media, 100 grit, 200 grit, 400 grit, 800 grit, 1500 grit, 3000 grit and various polishing powders and so forth to close the pores and building up to a polish that looks amazing with colour, depth and clarity. To further protect the marble, we normally use a good quality penetrating sealer to seal off any micro pores, thereby producing a surface that preventing food stains, oily substances from penetrating the marble thus ease of cleaning and maintenance. It is important to know that penetrating sealers that are used on these natural stone and marble surfaces are not coatings. Unlike coatings such as polyurethanes, acrylics and epoxies that form a plastic like barrier to seal off timber surfaces or waterproofing the substrate, these penetrating sealers are designed to reduce the capillaries of the stone thus providing water and oil repellent. However it is interesting to note that penetrating sealers will not stop surface etching from any acidic liquids, and any spills on polished marble and limestone will show up as whitish and dull spots. There are many clients that have asked me why we cannot put a coating like polyurethane on a stone counter-top to stop the etching, my answer is many stones surface required vapour transmission to breath, also if we simply coated the smooth stone surfaces, we run the risks of these coatings of de-laminating over a short period of time from many adhesion problems. Furthermore the coating will be prone to scratching from everyday usage as well, and over time, the surface will look full of scratches, dull and patchy spots, and thereby it would be even a bigger task to remove all the coating from the marble surface to rectify the problem, making it not a viable practice at all. The practical solution is to honed down the finish to 400 or 800 grits finish, and then seal it with Aquamix Sealer Gold penetrating sealer or stone enhancer sealer, by doing this process you will find any surface scratches and etching from acidic liquid are hardly noticeable, and this honed surface will provide ease of cleaning and maintenance. And in future, if you need to renew the surface honing, we can simply apply same process to your stone counter top, and it will be revived like new again. I hope the above information is useful, and please contact us on 0425 266 839 for a no obligation onsite quotation for reviving your stone counter tops, bathroom vanity etc.

17.01.2022 Trendy as it is these days with colour scheme of white, grey beige and charcoal stone tiles on many floors in apartments and house, they do require some of knowledge to maintain the clean look for longer. Although sealing the tiles with high quality penetrating sealers can prevent most household spillages from penetrating the stone, it is important to know that various limestone from Iran and Turkey can be very soft, porous and prone to surface abrasion and dirt collection fr...om foot traffic and everyday general use. We have successfully closing the pores of these type of limestone using our special polishing methods for our clients. If you do have a problem in keeping your limestone floor from looking clean and tidy, why not give us a call on 0425 266 839 ? I am sure we can provide you a floor that is easy on cleaning and maintenance.

16.01.2022 Rectification of slurry framing effect on the sandstone tiles;- this was initially thought it was caused by moisture in the tiles during pre sealing process. However after my investigation, the back of the tiles that was not pre-sealed also has the same effect, Therefore further test with moisture meter has concluded the reading was uniform across the wall. The tiles were then resurfaced by me and sealed with two coats of Aquamix Ultrasolv sealer for extra stain and water rep...ellency. If you have picture framing effects on your stone tiles (wall or floor), please give us a call on 0425 266 839 for a no obligation quotation. I am sure we could help you fixing the problem . 15.01.2022 This limestone tile is a crosscut finish, although it looks pretty with all the grains, but it is very hard to keep clean thus trapping dirt and boot prints. The owner also found the original tiles were partly under-polished in the factory and look very patchy. Although to many polishers, it may look simple job to polish this stone, however this is not the case at all due to its cross cut grains. We used special polishing methods to close the pore thus producing a finish that is easy to clean and maintain. If you have this type of floor or bench tops limestone finish, please give us a call on 0425 266 839 , I am sure we can help you.

02.01.2022 Giving an alternative look to a worn out marble floor! Old polished marble floor after years of usage would need polishing to return to yesterdays glory. However, many of our clients these days prefer honing the tiles to its natural finish and then enhancing it with stone colour enhancer. As with this type of finish, any fine scratches are hard to detect as compared to polished surfaces, and the colour will still be as vibrant as polished finish. ... This is very popular with many clients that wanted a honed finish in walkway, entrances and sometime in bathrooms and showers cubicles.
