24.01.2022 Central Coast 9s Tournament Glebe was methodical in disposing of Umina in Semi Final 2 which set up a Grand Final involving the two best teams in the competition. The Dirty Reds were firm favourites for the decider based on form and pedigree. Wyong needed to play mistake free football to be any chance of pressuring Glebe, but unfortunately for the Roos they surrendered possession early well inside their own territory. The favourites led 8-0 at half time and extended their le...ad to 14-0 shortly after the break. Wyong fought back late to trail 14-6 but a try in the final minute to the inner city squad put the result beyond any doubt. The Roos failed to follow the game plan which had worked so well for them during the Pool rounds and Semi Final. Wyong defenders fell off too many tackles and at the end of the day the Dirty Reds had little problem getting to the outside of the Roos defensive line and eating up metres. Glebe was too strong and worthy winners. The Wyong players will be disappointed they did not put up a more aggressive and polished showing in the decider. Final scoreline Glebe 20-Wyong 6. See more
