19.01.2022 MAN RESCUED FROM INSIDE WIND TURBINE About 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 23 June 2020), police were called to a wind farm near Crookwell following reports a man had fa...llen inside a wind turbine. Officers from The Hume Police District attended and commenced a rescue operation with the assistance of Police Rescue and NSW Ambulance Paramedics. The 49-year-old man was secured in a stokes litter and vertically roped to a platform before being removed from inside the wind turbine by Police Rescue. He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital for assessment. Fortunately the man only sustained minor injuries. SafeWork NSW have been notified of the incident.

08.01.2022 Rye Park Wind Farm An application by the Rye Park Wind Farm proponent has been lodged to modify the Development Consent seeking a reduction in the number of turbines (92 to 80) and an increase in their size and height. Yass Valley Council will make a submission to the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment asking that the contributions for the Community Enhancement Fund be increased, in line with the proposed increase in the size and megawatt capacity of the turbine...s. Council will also request a meeting with the Minister for Planning & Public Spaces to voice its concerns over Council’s input into Voluntary Planning Agreements and the lengthy timeframe for completion.
