24.01.2022 A moment ten years in the making. The opening of the brand #new Stromlo Leisure Centre has finally arrived. Ahead of opening day on Saturday, 15 August 2020, some lucky patrons were invited today to test the waters. With sweeping views across Canberra, the Centre will boast a 50-metre pool with moveable bulkhead, warm water program/learn to swim pool, leisure pool, toddlers pool, a splash park with a giant tipping bucket and slides, health club and crche.... We are excited to introduce this beautiful centre to Canberrans



24.01.2022 We are proud to announce that our #Streetgym program received a Highly Commended recognition in the Community Based Initiative of the Year category at the 2020 Parks and Leisure Australia NSW & ACT Awards of Excellence. A #free program for young people 12 to 18 years, Streetgym creates an opportunity for young people to engage in active activities in their own neighbourhood, have a free feed, enjoy hanging out with mates, as well as linking them with other services to improve their wellbeing.

Supported by the NSW Governments Youth Opportunities Grant, the project has been working with over 50 young people, providing training in leadership and personal development. ... The project has also assisted in facilitating young people to address issues important to them around the themes of Mental Health, Diversity & Inclusion and Environmental Issues. Young People have developed various projects that raise awareness and create a call-to-action from their local government and communities. When peers have spoken out, they’ve been judged and called ‘attention seekers’. 13.01.2022 It feels like just yesterday when the first splashes were made at the new $36.6 million Stromlo Leisure Centre. It's been a busy first couple of months for the team, but hard-work has certainly paid for the Stromlo Swim School, who are elated to announce that they've reached their first 1000 students!

Some of the activities included:... mind maps on what feeling safe looks like to the children positive lantern messages writing five people they could trust on their handprints group discussions around child safety creating individual posters on where they feel safe the educators showing the children how to email the service or email the educator as well as the business cards on our parent desk with the centres email address and phone numbers. safety chains with written messages around what makes the children feel safe outdoor game of "Who would you go to if" scenario, running towards various poles with images of trust worthy adults, including police officers, paramedics and doctors, teachers and parents.

She has been painting since she was a child and uses it as a medium to express her culture and connection to Country. In her words The black circles are symbols for campfires. I went with this design because all tribes throughout Australia wouldve used them and it represents all mobs and nations. I also did the suns which are in yellow, its reference to the Aboriginal flag. I painted turquoise dots throughout the canvas because I am salt water mob so coastal and I wanted something to represent me.

08.01.2022 The Y NSW congratulates our #ForsterFish, Nash Wilkes, for an amazing result at the #2021AusTrials! Nash smashed his 100m Breaststroke PB, taking his Australian ranking from 15th to 10th. Following his performance, Swimming NSW have moved Nash up from the performance squad to the NSW flippers squad. In the 200m Breaststroke Nash finished finished 3rd in the B Final, moving his Australian ranking from 17th to 11th. ...
