15.01.2022 Antiwrinkle injections A common question people ask is when should I start getting antiwrinkle injections? The answer will vary for everyone depending on many different things including strength of the muscles in the individuals face and aesthetic goals.... For a lot of patients that I treat I would recommend getting treatment when you start to see faint lines in the area when at rest ( when you are not activating the muscle). Part of the reason we get wrinkles is the ongoing and repeated movement of the muscle that causes deep lines over time and once they are at this point it can be hard to correct with antiwrinkle alone and made also need a dermal filler treatment to remove the lines. When you are hearing practitioners talk about preventative tox this is what we are referring to- preventing the wrinkle from actually appearing. The reason we like to do this is because it’s a lot easier, safer and more cost effective than waiting until the lines are quite deep to treat. For most people the fine lines start appearing at rest generally from late 20s which is why it can be normal to start treatment at this age.
