Annually, one of our favourite campaign...s to support is Liptember, which is dedicated to not only raising funds and awareness for women's mental health but encouraging community and conversation. 11.01.2022 Are you too busy being busy? - if youve answered YES, then youre making one of the most common mistakes Salon Owners make I cant stress enough how important it is to know not only WHERE to spend your time, but also HOW MUCH of it you spend on one thing and another. Very rarely does a salon owner sit on their hands just thinking, Oh well, what will I do today?. Most of us are as busy as all hell and thats because a lot of us have two jobs...... 1 Working on the floor or in the beauty rooms 2 Looking after everybody else in your business A lot of salon owners love working on the floor & thats totally OK, but if you find youre spreading yourself too thin, you have to understand that YOUR JOB as the owner is to make sure your team are doing their job well & the business is running smoothly. If youre working 38 hours on the floor, how could you possibly make sure that everything else is being done? Its really important to know where to spend your time, so theres on the floor & theres running the business. Getting that balance of where to spend your time productively is a skill that took me years to get right. I understand how hard it can be to step back from the floor & trust your team to do their job, so you can focus on the GROWTH of your salons success but its very important that you do! .

11.01.2022 Salon owners... we often find that we are the problem & the solution. Being a part of the problem means that we arent taking the reasonable steps to solving the issue. E.g. regular team meetings, allocating 4 hours a week to work on the business, having a default diary, knowing the cost to open your doors etc. You are also the solution! If you do the tasks you set yourself to do, brainstorm, make a plan & take action... you will solve the problems!...! Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines. Robert H. Shuller See more

10.01.2022 Every client deserves the same consistent service and they deserve it every time they come into your salon - Lisa Conway, The Naked Salon One thing I must make absolutely clear is that you MUST service your clients the same EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The only way to deliver this, is to create a system for every process in your salon, and train every staff member to do each thing the same way. That way, whether your clients get Jenny or Jamie for their scalp treatment, ...they get the same experience. The reason for this is simple: your clients deserve the best treatment, and they need to have confidence theyll receive it whether youre having a busy day or a quiet one; whether Jennys on holidays or not.

01.01.2022 Stretch your thinking around your entire retail range, we all have our favourite products and we tend to stick to recommending our favourites. The problem with this is we can miss opportunities because our favourite products are not necessarily the complete solution to all hair and skin needs. CHALLENGE: Choose 3 products that you are not familiar with and learn them inside out and back to front.... The reality is, if these products made it to market they are working for someone! Let's be flexible and get to know the products that we're not confident in. The outcome of this is that we are recommending from a complete range of solutions, not just our favourites.
