13.01.2022 Thiess respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners and custodians of lands on which Thiess operations and offices are located across Australia. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging for they embrace the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia. Meet Chris, a Dieri man f...rom South Australia. One of our longest standing Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group members, Chris reflects on what NRWs 2020 theme, In This Together, means to him. For me, its continuing to be involved in our RAP and encouraging other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be involved in our reconciliation journey. This means further including our Elders and Traditional Owners so that we can better showcase our regions culture, lore and family background. We can also involve non-Indigenous people more in our discussions and activities around reconciliation. By making decisions together, well create an opportunity for non-Indigenous people to have their say and celebrate all cultures. #InThisTogether2020 #NRW2020 #thiessdiversity

07.01.2022 For the past month, Muslims around the world have been observing Ramadan. Nazlee is a second-year graduate in our Community, Diversity & Inclusion team. For her, Ramadan is a time to reflect, pray and practise compassion and humility. Its a time to explore what is left inside when you remove the distractions and desires of worldly life, like food and water. By challenging your body physically, you are forced to turn your attention to the mental, emotional and spiritual par...ts of yourself, which may go unnoticed in your normal day-to-day life. Nazlee has encouraged her teammates to get involved and ask questions. I like it when people show their interest and ask questions about what Im doing and why. I think its not the act of asking itself, but how you ask that is important. If people ask questions respectfully and thoughtfully, I think the conversation can be a powerful way of learning about other peoples ideas, beliefs and cultures.
