17.01.2022 FYI. These trays/container things (has a clear lid) are brilliant for when you cut the good bits off rugs or headstalls etc that have died. Buckles, clips, dees, slides, straps etc. The yellow dividers are moveable/removable so you can make them the right size, and if you sort everything into type & size as you salvage it, it makes fixing things a whole heap quicker. You can see exactly what you’ve got and if you know what you actually have on hand you’re more inclined to use it!

And I still don’t know what went wrong But it’s back and doing what it’s meant to do. And I’ll hopefully stop flinching at every unexpected noise soon.

12.01.2022 With the rise of the ‘hack’ fb page, let me tell you my main hack. That’s not actually a hack at all but will save you the need for so many hacks. Have spare rugs. Wash and change them often. When one breaks, wash it and get it fixed. ...And that’s it. Yes it costs more initially but then you have rugs for longer (which makes them cheaper anyway) and you don’t have the ‘oh dear’ moment when you realize he’s torn the side out of one, you can’t cable tie it together any longer..., and it’s Saturday night so you can’t just pop down and buy another. Instead you just get to roll your eyes and whip the spare out of the cupboard. Wash them often. It’s amazing how long a good quality rug will last, thats not left to rot away in filth. These ones of mine are a couple of years old and they both just had their first repair. DIY - Most domestic machines will be able to fix cotton rugs and doonas or wools. It took me longer to find the thread I wanted than it did to actually fix these two bits this morning and even then it was only a few minutes on an old cheap brother domestic machine. So there you go. Not a hack.
12.01.2022 Another shining example of a cat with a job! (Touch wood) Mozz doesn’t need a safety vest. He just needs to learn 1) don’t climb up higher than you can jump down, 2) if you do - come down BACKWARDS. And don’t threaten to jump on to your people because they will scatter. A hi-vis vest wouldn’t help

08.01.2022 My work wardrobe needed a top up - I found these skirts in Op Shops (vintage, made in Australia - $1 and $1.50) but they were ankle length! Quick trim and hem and we are good to go! Woohoo!
08.01.2022 Hello! The good news is I’m looking at doing a few more rug repairs again. However, the bad news is, at the risk of sounding like an arrogant broken record: ALL rugs - must be cleaned/washed. Please don’t try and sneak a dirty rug in to a bag of clean rugs, or assume that because it’s been hanging up for months it’s clean enough etc. Dust & dirt in rugs is awful for general hygiene, my sewing machines and my lungs so I don’t do them and often when I then say I have left so...me because they’re not clean enough, you’re terribly surprised and mildly offended... or if you knew it was dirty, mildly surprised and terribly offended. And the rugs are still not repaired So - neat repairs all clean rugs - cotton, winter, wool etc. Drop off to Denison - msg me to arrange! Thankyou

Last time I sold some of this the person was sewing it fine on a domestic sewing machine. Not sure how many meters, they’re sitting on a tape measure for reference. $35 for both pick up Maffra 3860.

05.01.2022 This is off one small bit of the table after I fixed a small bit on one ‘’clean’’ rug that hadn’t been through the wash. This machine has just come back from an unexpected/emergency trip to the sewing machine hospital and I really don’t want to have to do that again. Especially the fright I got when it went bang This is why I don’t repair rugs that haven’t been washed (I shouldn’t have done this one either!). Imagine what goes into the guts of the machine. No good.

Clean your rugs. 1st pic: Wiped down table after one rug. 10mins to fix. Not the dirtiest rug ever sent to me, but dirty enough I shouldn’t have fixed it. ... 2nd pic: Wiped down table after TWO HOURS of very clean rugs from one person. Surely you can see which are more hygienic for you, me and not to mention the horses that wear them. Clean. Your. Rugs.
