24.01.2022 On to the cuffs #thefogsweater
23.01.2022 Amongst the busyness of Christmas, it was lovely to be able to think of someone in need and bless a stranger! https://thingsnicolemade.wordpress.com//share-the-dignityy/
22.01.2022 Getting close to finishing the body of the Fog Sweater by Tiennie
22.01.2022 This year is speeding past - so fast that Im not quite keeping up! Weve had several events in our house that require some forethought and planning and each one has caught me by surprise and required some fast planning and tail chasing. Easter has been no different. I have been a little more organised by buying the chocolate eggs early but there are growing numbers of friends and family that cant/want to cut down on or should just not eat so much chocolate, so Ive been thinking of alternatives for those gifts. 22.01.2022 I love the variety of things that you can make to put in the Gawler show - just about anything you can think of. Some things will take a lot of time, such as a jumper or piece of adult clothing and some things are quick and easy like a pair of booties for a baby. Each year, I enter a pair of booties as they are quick to make at the last minute (and you can be sure that I will leave some things until the last minute!) and a really easy entry to boost your chances of winning. 22.01.2022 As you are probably aware, I like to try new things and keep improving my crochet skills. Brianna K from Brianna K Designs has developed the Infinity Crochet style ( I have been watching as this has been posted on line and different projects have been designed and uploaded. When the Aisling Infinity Clutch ( came up, I knew I had found a project I wanted to make. [ 574 more words ] https://thingsnicolemade.wordpress.com//how-to-line-a-clu/
19.01.2022 This little beauty ( was stored in my saved files on Facebook for a while before I got around to making it. Once again, it was something new that I hadnt tried before - broomstick lace. I also loved the design of the bag, the combination of different stitches, the fact that it was symbolic of the beach and also that the back was completely different to the front! 16.01.2022 As many crocheters do, I come across some patterns that I just have to make. Fridas flowers by Janie Crow ( is one of them. I looked at it in many different colourways for a very long time and then finally decided to bite the bullet and buy the pattern. One of the things I love about this pattern is that it is on paper - not a digital download. [ 319 more words ] https://thingsnicolemade.wordpress.com///fridas-flowers-2/
15.01.2022 It's Summer here and boy, what a Summer we are having. The temperatures are soaring (if it's only 35 degrees celcius, we call it a cooler day!) and the heat has been merciless. Due to the extreme dryness and heat, Australia is also suffering from devastating bushfires. Although my family is safe, you'd be hard put to find someone in Australia who hasn't had a friend or family member who have been affected by the bushfires in some way. 12.01.2022 I love making baby blankets. They are small enough that I don't get bored while making them and you can make some really effective looking ones! So, every time I hear someone I know is expecting, out comes a new blanket! (I generally still like to mix it up a bit and make different blankets!). I had seen this Rainbow Ruffle Blanket by Dada's Place ( a little while before I heard that one of my friends was expecting and I knew that I wanted to make it for her! 11.01.2022 I love, big, elaborate crochet things. I am also determined to win first prize at the Royal Adelaide show. I thought hard about what I could make that would pack a punch big enough to win that elusive first and this is what I came up with! The Wonderland Tea Cosy crochet-a-long that was hosted by Crochet Now ( I love all the bits, the intricacies, the details, the fact that wherever you look at it, you are finding a new and interesting thing to look at. 07.01.2022 Shortly after I discovered how easy it was to find such a variety of crochet patterns on the internet, I found this blanket ( that had been a crochet-a-long. I came in right on the end of it, but I loved the colours and the way it was put together and the fact that each square was different. By the time I joined in, some of the squares were no longer free, but I replaced them with some different squares that I found that were of the same finished sizes. 01.01.2022 My eldest daughter was getting ready to head off on her school camp. It was her last year of primary school and I think it had all started hitting her, so she was a touch fragile and was a little anxious about me not being with her on camp. For my part, I have been an adult supervisor on many Girls Brigade camps in my life and at this stage of my life, I cant think of much worse than having to go on a school camp! 01.01.2022 "The Midwife" baby blanket by Little Monkeys Crochet ( is still my favourite go to baby blanket. It is so quick and easy to make up (and Ive made it so many times that the pattern is quick to come back to my mind) and it is such an effective looking little blanket. However, as someone who doesnt love making the same thing over and over and who likes to challenge herself, I have had to figure out some way of making these blankets different and a little challenging. 01.01.2022 Part of putting your crochet out there on the internet is taking nice photos of it. I am not a photographer. I look at all the amazing photos of things people have made on the internet and wish that I could set up something so nice myself, but it is a work in progress for me. I have tried a number of different ways of taking photos of my work. [ 555 more words ] https://thingsnicolemade.wordpress.com//getting-that-perf/
