15.01.2022 Where things stand with the studio initiative. At the moment we are going through the process of looking at possible spaces in Northbridge and surrounding areas and finding people who are interested in becoming founding members. Without the support and commitment of founding members the project will not get off the ground. ... We are looking for approximately 10 to 15 people who can pay between $45 and $70 a week for a studio space. The price will depend on the size of the space you are wanting and the overall cost of the venue we choose. We are committed to keeping costs as low as possible. The spaces we are looking at mean that the studios will be open plan however once again depending on the space chosen there may be the room to accommodate private spaces at an additional cost. There will be a workshop area that will provide some basic tools and equipment that will be expanded upon as finances improve and grants and donations are secured. We are looking for at least a 6 month lease commitment from our founding members (longer lease agreements will be available) and 12 weeks rent in advance (at the maximum open plan space price this is $840+gst. We will not be asking for any money to be provided until we are in negotiations for a space so if you start saving a little now then by the time the venture is up and running you could have this amount available. Fit out, in the first few weeks of operation we will be fitting out the space and will need hands on help from all of our founding members. What this means is that you might help with repainting,fixing, cleaning, organising of the space, creating separation between studios, and general setting up. It also means you will have input into how your space will look and function and where your own space will be. If you have other skills i.e.you're a plumber, electrician, lawyer, administration extraordinaire, interior designer, sign writer, website developer/designer, etc there may be other ways in which you can help and support us please feel free to contact Melinda or Ben with any help you are willing to offer. As a founding member you will receive free membership for life which is a minimum saving of $120+gst per year, and savings of up to 50% on future services such as, workshop space hire, attending seminars and workshops, group exhibition participation, Gallery hire, Photography studio rental, Kiln use, and WIFI, Plus you get to be a part of an exciting contemporary venture. 11.01.2022 Big news for TWM this week. We are starting the process of becoming an incorporated association! We need committee members and are looking for people involved in the visual arts who have business, finance, secretarial, fundraising or committee experience who might be interested in joining this venture. As a committee member you would be directly involved in the decision making process and would be committing to attending meetings on a regular basis, at most once per month. ... 09.01.2022 I am really ready to get this happening now but lack (piles of free money). If anyone is interested in renting out cheap warehouse, retail space or house anywhere between Northbridge and Midland something around 12000 per year with ten artists = $100 per month each + expenses. If you are truly keen and willing to take on some effort to get this to work then please message below.
