25.01.2022 Our 'SMART' goals! Specific- Goals set for your child should be specific and should include the aim. For example, ‘I want to rank 1st in my grade for math’ as compared to something general like ‘I want to do better in maths’ is more effective as it gives your child an image on what to achieve. Measurable- Lets say that the aim of your child is to attain a Band 6 in chemistry, how can we make this goal measurable? Well, we can quantify the goals to help them measure th...eir progress. For instance, aiming for a specific mark such as ’93 in Chemistry’ and working to improve current marks in order to achieve that goal. Attainable- As we want the best for our child, it is always important to set realistic goals. If they are achieving 60% in their schoolwork but aim for 90%, this may only lead to stress and disappointment. An alternative is to slowly increase the goals as they are achieved. For instance, initially aiming for 70% through regular revision and then increasing the goal to 80% through practice papers and so on. This is less likely to overwhelm your child, effectively helping them attain their goals! Relevant- All students want to achieve great marks, but how do we ensure they stay motivated? An effective way of achieving this is to link the student’s goal to something that is important to them. For example, wanting to ‘study Law at University’ or wanting to 'rank 1st in English Advanced' can be used as a source of motivation! Time-bound- We’ve all been through it and sometimes still become a victim of it- procrastination. Creating timeframes and goals for your child assist them in the long run. When exams and assignments come around, there will be minimal stress and anxiety! An example of this can be aiming to finish revision of all content for Maths within 2 weeks. With the application of these SMART goals, we aim to maximise student success!

With the combination of authority and warmth, our tutors aim to create a comfortable environment for the student so questions can be asked without feeling judged. High-Quality tutoring: With the experience our tutors have gained by studying through the Australian schooling system, we aim to use this expertise and knowledge to guide and mentor our s...tudents. Individuality: Think Smart recognises the importance of individuality in every child and understands that not all students can be taught the same way. Our tutors aim to recognise the strengths and weaknesses in the student, and aim to help them achieve success. New Heights: We endeavour to reach new heights with our students and work beyond just tutoring. As mentors, our tutors help students organise their time, guiding them to work effectively to boost their efficiency in studying as well as helping them answer the big "what will I do in the future?". Knowledge: Finally, we always aim to achieve 100%! Gaining knowledge is an ongoing process and we always aim to maintain this progression for both the tutor and student!
