Until late last week nor had I Jason Macs from Seaford Bait along with Chris Taylor, Johnny Zhu & Robert Coillet all found them to be a really good alternative to the higher priced pippis most of are currently buying-using in fair quantities.... Took out a 2kg bag & it quickly became an empty bag with a steadily filling fish bin. 22.01.2022 Hi All, Ive had a fair number of clients, both new & regular ask me in recent weeks what is happening in regards to Think BIG Fishingcharters. Like every other fishing charter business in Victoria/Melbourne, currently not a great deal... It is hard to say at this stage just when well all be allowed back on the water for any charter work. The lifting of bans in some sectors some are gossiping about is just that... No one really knows whats happening. I honestly think there may be an opening of boating to the gen public shortly, (May 11th has been mentioned a bit in the last fortnight or so) However itll most likely contain a long list of rules no doubt that will possibly allow only 1-2 persons on a recreational vessel only & theyll possibly need to be family members only at this stage. Put it this way, I doubt any Vic/Melb based charter operation will be given the all clear to go & resume business with group numbers of persons prior to lockdown Maybe Im wrong here, but Ive a deep suspicion that it will be sometime in July or later before charters are allowed to run as per normal. Once Ive got some clarification on where things are headed, I can then let everyone know. 16.01.2022 More breeze of cheese this morning, still Dunira & Trevor, Rockin Rod & Blake found plenty of line pullingaction With the full moon just 3 days away, the resident /bugs of the port have been feeding. Have caught 2 in the last 3 days. Both were caught with hook in their mouths.... They’re only caught on during the lead up to full or newmoon phases. They’re simply more active at this time. The rest of the calendar month sees these fascinating alien critters burrowed well under the substrate-sand/mud. I’ve added both / to the saltwater tank in garage. Within minutes of being added, each one burrowed under the sand, you wouldn’t know they’re in there I’ll get some video up of them Also had a large Salmon gate crash the party near end of charter. 16.01.2022 I rate big Flathead. Something we dont see all too often in the Port What is large? Client Ben from Coast 2 Coast Plumbing & his mate mööny who had his birthdaywere rewarded with a treat.... Last night while targeting gummy shark, a huge crocodilesized blue spot or yank flathead engulfed a slimy mackerel bait. While not quite the legendary 3metery At a whisker over 74cms, its the largest flathead Ive seen from Westernport. After a few pics, she was sent back to harass the flats & frighten small children The guys also had plenty of action with 5 gummy shark landed. Other than 1 they kept for a feed The other 4 were released. After a lot of research & phone conversations yesterday & again this morning to various government bodies both state & nationally, I can announce Ill be back on Westernport as off Thursday 14th May until further notice. During this time of heightened awareness in regards to the Covid-19virus, Ill be exercising a safe work environment & following safe work practices & social distancing guidelines at all times for any person(s) who are onboard for a fishing charter with me. With current social distancing laws of 1.5mtr for outside activities being enforced. This will also apply to the boat. By 10:58am they stopped fishing & counted 100, with 7 being returned earlier through the session.... Bushy Mussels had them lined up, with instant results when the bite was going hard at times.
