25.01.2022 NATURAL DETAILS Even in a conversion project like this we think it’s important to make our finished result look as natural as possible. So we’re under-cutting the rocks we’re placing along the pool beam so that a part of the rock hangs down over the edge and partly hides the pool edge giving the impression the rocks are embedded into the pool edge. ... It’s details like this that make the difference in the end result. Wetland aggregate layers complete Just some rocking up to finish along the front to disguise the box we built to create the rise we needed to build a waterfall for aeration, aesthetics and sound. And water plants! Lots of water plants We’re also changing the old pool light to a new one to make it more enjoyable at night and easier to see the fish. 18.01.2022 IT’S CLEAR. that recreation swimming ponds are the way of the future. Natural filtration through a constructed wetland filter works amazing well. We built this swimming pond down in Nannup a few months ago and there was a lot of fine bentonite clay in and on the very-local rocks we used to build it. That gave the water a gray/white bentonite tint usually seen in bentonite clay lined dams. Even in a still clay dam it never fully settles out,... It has taken a few months, but now even that fine suspended bentonite looks to be gone. Filtered out. Naturally. Check out the clarity! 15.01.2022 WHAT A TRANSFORMATION A small project this week, but wow what an impact! This existing formal style pond had a box filter that really wasn’t doing a great job and added no aesthetic value and minimal aeration. ... We replaced the old pump with a solids handling Aquaforce pump and added a Biofalls 1000 waterfall biofilter with a multiple fall waterfall streaming back into the pond. There is now a lot of natural aeration through the waterfalls and we’re creating an ecosystem approach now with biological filtration, gravel, rocks, plants and fish. We even added some native plants in the adjoining garden bed. A small project with big impact easily visible from the living areas in the house and will be a real pleasure to enjoy meals at the dining table almost right alongside this on the alfresco terrace with views over the Indian Ocean. 12.01.2022 DINGO POND UPDATE Just the planting to go now on this Aquascape Australia ecosystem pond and stream project for Banjo & Bindi the two resident dingoes at Native ARC Inc. The pond and stream have come up looking great. Nice job Michael from TGLW and Noel from Suitz Landscaping ... (PS make sure you watch and listen to Mike’s talkthrough & walkthrough video of the project at the end of the photos) This system has been specially designed for the dingoes who enjoy water but don’t really ‘swim’ much. The upper sections of the stream are long shallow pools perfect for wading in and drinking from. And the main pond has a fine gravel beach style entry and shallow shelves with plenty of easy access and egress points and shallow shelves. For when they do want an occasional swim there is a deeper section about 40-50cm deep through the centre. We’ll be back to plant out the terrestrial plants here early next week. 12.01.2022 WOODLANDS SMALL POND A great start to 2021 with this Aquascape Australia small pond kit installed at this new home in Woodlands. Stretched right across the wide front window facade of this house, whoever is working or staying in the office & guest room is going to have a great outlook and relax to the soothing sounds of the waterfall. ... We love building these small ponds as much as the big ones. So much impact in such a small footprint with just a two day build time! The water will clear over the next couple of days and the owners are looking forward to adding fish in the next couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to visiting again when the rest of the front landscaping is done. 08.01.2022 PROGRESS ON OUR CARRAMAR PROJECT The guys have made great progress over three days this week on our very large pond project in Carramar. Finished and shelved the pond shaping and started laying rocks and blocks. Centre section is coming together. ... This pond will be around 1.2 meters deep in this centre section. We will have both a jetting line and two large aeration stones to circulate the cool deeper water to minimise thermal layering and maintain a cooler more even temperature throughout the pond. 08.01.2022 POOL TO POND CONVERSION We started this pool to pond conversion project in Floreat this week. We’re building an Aquascape Australia wetland filter just outside the pool shell with a waterfall back into the pool. The owners here tried the conversion the slow way as advocated by a couple of NSW councils (just turn everything off approach) but the algae and thick green water just got a bit much... ... They also wanted to be able to still swim in it from time to time. To start with we emptied the pool and gave the garden a really good watering with the algae filled, nutrient rich water. We will refill on completion so the system isn’t struggling to clean up the mess and further delaying the achievement of clear natural water. The owners plan to keep fish in the pool-pond, have some potted and some floating plants in the swimming area, and even a few edible water plants in the top of the upflow constructed wetland filter. 05.01.2022 WE HAVE A BEACH The beach and intake bay of the large Carramar pond were completed this week. We’ve used locally sourced Avon River Sand in the beach here. It’s a lovely gritty sand that looks great and feels good underfoot. Perfect for an application like this. The intake bay is like a pool skimmer on steroids. It is home to the four pumps that will provide circulation and filtration in this pond. ... We will have four Aquascape Australia Ecowave 5000 pumps running in this pond. Each moves 20,000L/hour with just 165 watts of power. Very energy efficient pumps for low head applications. We use these pumps a lot! Two pumps are for circulation jets, one is for circulating water through the upflow wetland filter pond. And the fourth is just for aesthetics to have a more spectacular waterfall. We’ll probably put this one on a timer to turn it off and save power overnight. 03.01.2022 CARRAMAR VERY LARGE POND PROJECT underway today. Initial shelf bulk out done by the client and their semi-retired earth worker neighbour. This big pond will be about 20 x 12m x up to 1.2m deep. It will have a large wetland filter to maintain great water quality. And will have a beach area too for the grand kids to play. Stretching the whole pond out to about 25m long!

01.01.2022 VERGE SIDE WATERFALLS A few photos of our verge side pondless waterfalls and decorative water features. If you’re up Darlington way in the Perth Hills please feel free to drive by and take a look. On Owen Road corner of Orange Road. Pondless systems like these have no open body of water like a pond does. Instead the bulk of water is stored in an underground reservoir. Very safe with young kids or even for front yard water features like this. They are also very water efficien...t and can be really energy efficient too. These are all run on timers from 6am-8pm daily and have very energy efficient pumps. The small waterfall runs on a 65watt pump moving 8000 litres per hour (about 25c per day in electricity). A second 65w pump runs the spilling bowl and 3 bubbling rocks all off the one pump.
