In my creative process, I find it extremely valuable to me and my client to visualise the overall style, feel and emotions that we want a brand to convey. It isn't a direct representation of what your brand will look like, it's more of a feeling, the energy that your brand will invoke and send out. This little beauty was a little passion project (read more about this on the blog) and it took a long time! A logo is rarely perfect the first round of concepts and often takes a few iterations to get it looking Which personally, is the most enjoyable part of the entire process for me. It's that collaborative approach that sets Third Ginger Studio apart.... We're figuring it out together and that is so beautiful and rewarding. It ensures that every change we make is the right decision and is adding value and meaning to the overall brand. 22.01.2022 1 or 2? Which would you choose? Two different creative directions for a new client! I was so in love with both and couldn't decide - lucky I have a client that knows what she wants! Part of my process when creating the brand strategy is to develop two initial mood boards and colour palettes showing the client exactly where my head is at in terms of visual direction. The two styles are dependent on their audience, aesthetic preferences, business offerings/services an...d most importantly where they want to take their business. 18.01.2022 Following on from the mobile site mock ups I did a week earlier, is the brand that started it all! Jonah & Sadie. Wedding floristry for the modern bride. Finding the right font for this one was tricky. 1000s of fonts and 100s of font samples, we got this one. Its the perfect blend of handwritten and curated. Sophisticated but with an organic nature.

Paloma Frank is a Sydney based female focused naturopath, encouraging women to know, understand and respect their inner workings and natural health.... A #passionproject born out of a creative rut, this brand was the vibrant, energetic push needed to get a little out of the comfort zone. Paloma's mission is to promote and encourage women of all ages to be at one with their body and understand the role of alternative practices in helping them through gut issues, hormonal imbalances and more. The intention behind the design was to make alternate health options approachable and not so overwhelming. Some women may feel uneasy about their health or the issues they have so are not willing to talk about them or just deal with it. I wanted Paloma Frank to be everything opposite and to create a safe space where talking about your health and learning about it was encouraged and non-judgemental. 14.01.2022 Whoever said mixing business and pleasure isn't a good idea, clearly doesn't have the right mix. When Ciara asked me to brand her wedding photography business it was an instant yes. No hesitation. We've always spoken about our businesses, our goals and everything in between, so this was an absolute no-brainer. We'd always been on the same aesthetics wavelength and I knew exactly what she wanted. But she also trusted me to have full creative control and give her a total ...wild card. 09.01.2022 SILENCE IS COMPLICITY. This post is by no means an easy one to write. I am sorry that it has taken me this long to write this. I wasn’t sure what to write, but I realised that there are enough people in the world being silent and I don't need to be one of them. I have not been on the receiving end of hateful abuse and racism (nor have I been one to treat another human like that with such brutality), I have not seen with my own two eyes another person be treated so h...orrifically, I do not, and will not understand what it feels like to grow up a minority, I do not understand what it’s like to be singled out and fearful of my life, and I certainly cannot sit here and stay quiet simply because it's an uncomfortable topic to talk about. But I do have a voice. Even though I haven't experienced racism, even though I am not a person of colour. I don't know what to say exactly, but I know that I definitely cannot articulate the rage I feel eloquently. However, I do feel the need to bring to light that this is not only happening in America. This happens on our own soil. The Stolen Generation. Sorry Day went completely under the radar recently. Our indigenous people have and do suffer similar fates as people of colour in the States. This happens everywhere, and not just now. This has been someone’s reality their whole lives. 08.01.2022 5 methods to deal with creative rejection This one is for all of my creatives! Receiving negative feedback never gets easier. Being a designer is tough when you have so much subjectivity ruling an entire industry. You either learn to deal with it, or it cripples you. Its not a nice topic to talk about, and no one likes to be reminded that sometimes the work they produce isnt always going to hit the mark. But its important to discuss, because its so common!... So, after doing some research (and a look inwards), I found 3 methods thatll help you deal with criticism, negative feedback and rejection. 1 | Listen, dont defend. Listen their reasoning and opinion. Try not to get defensive - that only makes you more upset! 2 | Ask questions. Theres no such thing as a dumb question, so just ask them to clarify their feedback, be more specific, what they did like about it etc 3 | Emotional distancing. To be able to accept negative feedback, you must be somewhat emotionally detached from your work. Its hard, but necessary for you to improve. In my creative process, I find it extremely valuable to me and my client to visualise the overall style, feel and emotions that we want a brand to convey. It isnt a direct representation of what your brand will look like, its more of a feeling, the energy that your brand will invoke and send out. 07.01.2022 The Lemon Lounge: A tongue in cheek, poolside cocktail bar in The Yellow Lemon Hotel for the cool kids to sneak in a few drinks before dinner. I designed this logotype a few weeks ago with this gorge new font and Ive been wanting to share it. But, something just didnt feel right. It wasnt finished, but I had no idea what it needed. Then, I was editing a process video of a client illustration and it hit me - it NEEDS a drawing! Enter these little lemon sketches.... Paloma Frank is a Sydney based female focused naturopath, encouraging women to know, understand and respect their inner workings and natural health.... A #passionproject born out of a creative rut, this brand was the vibrant, energetic push needed to get a little out of the comfort zone. Paloma's mission is to promote and encourage women of all ages to be at one with their body and understand the role of alternative practices in helping them through gut issues, hormonal imbalances and more. The intention behind the design was to make alternate health options approachable and not so overwhelming. Some women may feel uneasy about their health or the issues they have so are not willing to talk about them or just deal with it. 06.01.2022 Experimenting with new layouts for a boutique hotel branding project. Fonts and typographic layouts are so important for adding personality and interest into your brand. It is typically suggested to use no more than three fonts in any design because otherwise it's confusing and disjointed. I'm trying to push the boundaries a little bit by using a very eccentric and distinctive primary font and pairing it with two or three supporting fonts, to add visual interest and int...rigue to the design. The most important aspect of this project was to ensure Jen's friendliness, motherliness (is that a word? ), femininity and softness was portrayed through every possible way. As visual creatures, humans subconsciously associate emotions wit...h colours, so by creating a muted and soft palette instantly invites positive thoughts and associations with Jen's brand. 05.01.2022 At the beginning of the corona virus lockdown, way back in March? April? (A while back haha) I made a list of all the things I want. Not necessarily a list of things I want to do, but a list of things that were important to my overall happiness and wellbeing. A major topic that came up was failure. Ive always been a perfectionist so doing something I have no idea about scares the absolutely living daylights out of me because Im worried I wont be good at it.... Well, duh. Right?! Theres a very good chance I wont be good at it. Because I havent had the time to learn, to teach myself, to practice. So these last few months Ive done away with my fear of failure, especially when it comes to my business. Because in all honesty, itll be fine if something doesnt work. Itll be fine if an out of the box post doesnt work. Itll be ok if I get something a little wrong for a client (Ill work til its perfect!) Im going to continue trying to live without fear of failure. 02.01.2022 As we finish another week (it's the end of July?! When did that happen?), I know there is a lot of good change coming my way. I've been stuck for a long time, so this visualising is something I've been trying to do a lot of lately. Visualising who I want to be and acting on that. By constantly showing up as my best and highest self, I'm proving to myself that I know exactly who I am and what I'm capable of. It's sometimes become as simple as taking a deep breath, rolling my s...houlders back and standing up straight and projecting that energy. My highest self looks like someone who is confident, kind-hearted, understanding, fearless, intelligent, empathetic, feminine, genuine, ambitious, hard-working and so many more.
