Turning Tide is the place to be this Thursday night and then well be back at Octane this Friday. We are absolutely loving this whole two bar nights in one week thing. There will be a $5 cash cover at the door. These events are 21+ only. You must have a valid ID to enter.... -TC P.S. - If Thirsty Camel had it our way the drinking age in the US would be 18, there would be no cover charge at any bar, and there would be a free bus to and from wherever you wanted to go. Wouldnt that be nice? Unfortunately, the reality is that we are either banned from most bars in the area or they are simply not big enough to accommodate all of us. The bars that do agree to host us have to hire extra security guards, extra bartenders, and extra cleaning staff in order to have the party. Not to mention they risk paying fines for a variety of reasons and have to deal with the select few of us who think its fun to break things. The cover charge is used to pay for those extra costs. Hanafins, State Street Saloon, Tiki, Pier 74, and Cilantros have all closed in the past 3 years. The bars that are open needed to make a change in order to continue hosting us this year and for years to come. Thirsty Camel organizes events with the bars in advance so they can prepare for 200 people to show up on the nights that they are hosting and avoid wasting money on the nights that they are not hosting. Now, of course, you can go to whatever bar you want, whenever you want. And you might even be able to show up when the bar isnt prepared and avoid paying a cover (like last week) but that will only lead to more bars closing or us getting banned. Its your call. 08.01.2022 30 minutes before DJ Sliink was scheduled to perform this Saturday, his management reached out to Thirsty Camel to make us aware of a situation with his 8-year-old son. After a brief discussion, we were told that DJ Sliink would be unable to perform. In an effort to salvage the event, our friends over at Mohegan Sun sent one of their top DJs directly from Avalon nightclub to play a quick set before the event hit curfew. Although BACK TO SCHOOL 2018 was a great party, it was n...ot what we promised you. We are determined to make this right by offering a free concert in the very near future and will continue to work as hard as we can to produce events that we can all be proud of. Please stay tuned. We sincerely apologize to everyone who came out to see DJ Sliink. We were excited to bring him to New London, but unfortunately, some things are just out of anyones control. Our thoughts and prayers go out to DJ Sliink and his family. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.
